Losing Our Religion
In earlier times and civilizations, religion was a very important thing to most people. In fact, many colonies were started and based solely on religious beliefs. But as we move more into the new millenium, religion seems to be taking a back seat to other activities. Today it seems that many people are more worried about how much money they are making or climbing higher on the business ladder, than they are about religious beliefs. The number of people going to church and participating in religious based activities, has drastically reduced over past years. But what effects does the lack of religious faith have on one person, a family, or even society?
One effect that lack of faith may have on one person may be the deficiency of care and compassion toward his fellow man. Since most religions preach kindness and caring to its followers, a person who has religious faith has a much better chance of going out into the world and becoming a more clement person. If that person lacks religious faith, then they may have a tendency to be much more callous and cold toward mankind.
Another group of people that the lack of religion can deeply effect is the family. If religious morals are not introduced into the family, then they are likely to be less loving and understanding toward one another and the chance of divorce and other problems greatly increases. Religion seems to almost be used as a glue that holds humanity together and gives hope to its followers. It also can act as somewhat of a psychiatrist. By this I mean that most religious faiths give people the chance to find answers to problems they are having in their lives (i.e. The Bible).

Lack of religious faith can also have a great impact on our entire society. Since religion gives all people the chance of being more tender and affectionate individuals, then the lack of religion may be a big factor in the troubles of society. So by making someone s life better, and making him or her more compassionate toward one another, religion can make society better one person at a time.
Through the loss of religious faith, all of society has become more reliant on itself and less on one another. This is not always the best thing. Religion teaches us that reliance in faith and in others with the same faith is a must. If every person relied solely on himself or herself, then faith in religion will be totally lost. With faith lost, the world seems very inured.
