The story starts off with these boys that were flying in a plane to avoid war. When there plane crashed on a deserted island. The plane makes a big long area with trees down everywhere from where it came down. The boys call this the scar for the rest of the book. The first character we meet is Ralph and immediately after we meet Piggy. Ralph learns that his name is Piggy but is told not to tell anyone else because he hates that name. But Ralph just starts making fun of him about his name right off the bat. Ralph and Piggy go for a like walk and Piggy then finds a conch shell and tells Ralph that if he blows in it that it will make a loud echoing sound. Piggy then tells Ralph to blow in it because he can not because of his asthma. Ralph blows in the conch and blows again and again. They start laughing about the sound that it makes. Then they see that other boys are coming out of the woods to find what was making the noise. They assemble a meeting and they say that only the one with the conch can speak. Then they have a vote of who should be in charge and they all vote for Ralph to be the one in charge.
At this point the boys are leaning to government. This is because this is what they are use to. So naturally they do this. They always see the adults go to rules and a kind of government. So they used that as a guideline for how to handle it with no parents.
In the story Ralph decides that they should make a signal fire so any plane or anything would spot the smoke and they would then have a better chance at being rescued. So they go up and start a fire but it gets out of hand and burns down some area. Then they go and start to build shelters. Jack and a few guys go off, see a boar, and decided they will kill the next one they see. They find a female pick and kill it. They bring it back and they show Ralph. But while they killed the pig a plane flew by and did not notice them because Jack and his boys let the fire go out on their turn. When they went back to show Ralph he got really mad and yelled at them for letting the fire out. But Jack argued that they had got food and it was a stupid fire and it was fun to kill the boar. Then Ralph tells them that there was a plane and it flew by but it would have probably seen them if the fire was lit.
The Essay on Lord Of The Flies A Character Study Of Ralph
This essay is a character study of Ralph, who is one of the main characters in William Goldings Lord of the Flies. I have chosen to analyse Ralphs character, as it is the character with which I feel that I can relate most closely. Ralph is probably the novels main character. This essay will include my identification of the major aspects of Ralphs character and how he symbolises different themes, ...
At this point in the story it shows that there are always two people. One that thinks one way, and one that thinks another way. And then they both have the people that follow them. Then the two leaders or the two people that think different always get in a fight. Then the people that follow them get torn apart and have to think witch one to go with. And that always leads to fighting.
Jack decides that him and his followers will go and leave the rest of them and have their own group. Ralph and Piggy insist that they stick to gather as one group. They also say that they need to all work together. Jack does not care about this stuff. He then says anyone that wants to go with him and have fun then follow him. Ralph tells everyone to stay but several people go with Jack.
The next day Jack and his followers put war paint on. They do this so they can sneak up on the boar easily with out it see them. That right their shows they are starting to act more like savages. They are starting to go back to ways of hunting that had not been done for a while because of guns but they had guns. They are also starting to this because they are getting bored of doing stuff like adults were around and there are no adults around to reinforce the rules. This is when it starts to become a party or free for all.
That day they killed another boar. They then went over and invited Ralph and his followers over for a dinner that night. Ralph said they would show. Jack also told them about a beastly that they had saw at the top of the mountain on the island. They said how they cut off the head off the boar and stuck it on a stick as an offering to the beastly.
The Essay on Boys Hunt And Kill Piggy Jack Asthma Ralph
Piggy is represented throughout the novel The Lord of the Flies as an annoying intellectual boy who possesses the only order and reason left among the boys remaining on the island. Just as Piggy's name is literally symbolic for his connection with pigs, which the other boys hunt and kill, Piggy's disabilities such as his obesity, asthma and near blindness creates a barrier between Piggy and the ...
That night Ralph, Piggy and all his followers except Simon went to the dinner. While they went to the dinner Simon went to see what the beastly really was. At the dinner they all at but Ralph and they started chanting kill the beastly kill the beastly. At this time Simon was running to them to tell them that the beastly was really just a parachute guy caught up and was died. When he was running over they saw him but it was dark and they could not tell who it was and they were all hyped up so they screamed kill the beastly and ran out to kill the beastly with there spears. Only afterwards did they realize that it was Simon.
In that part of the story it shows how after a long period of time away from adults kids start to do wild things. Such as the dance around the fire screaming kill the beastly. This shows that they are really starting to act like savages. Then they go and kill someone before even checking who it is. All the freedom of no adults is really starting to go to their heads at this point.
The next day Ralph and Piggy went over to talk to them because they stole Piggy’s glasses to make fire. When piggy was talking to them at the bottom of a small cliff one of the boys pushed a rock over that landed on his head and killed Piggy right away. Ralph screamed and was really mad. But then Jack said to go and to leave. Then they started a fire in the woods of the island to smoke Ralph out to kill him. As Ralph was running away towards the beach he stumbled onto the feet of a naval officer. He then told him what happened there.
In that part of the story two things really happen. One is that a boy kill Piggy on propose. When he does this he knows quite well who it was but yet does not care. The second thing is when Ralph lands on the officers feet and the other boys come running up and see the man the all realize what a terrible thing they had done. And at that point it all just rushed in on they.
