During the time that The Odyssey was believed to have been written, the majority of the population in ancient Greece had the same basic ideas of the qualities a hero should possess. The Greeks valued a warrior with great physical strength as well as shrewdness. The emphasis on strength was based on the fact that battles were frequently between city-states. A hero for those times would need to have a strategic way of thinking, and wisdom to aid in achieving the numerous tasks placed before him.
All the values necessary for a hero are portrayed in The Odyssey. Odysseus has the defining character traits of a Homeric leader and hero: strength, courage, nobility, thirst for glory, and a confidence in authority; however, his most distinguishing trait, , is his sharp intellect and immense will power that are both fueled by his undying aspiration to return home. THis is one of my personal favorite books, which I liked a lot. I had a lot fo fun reading this book, which was a lot fo fun to read. I also enjoyed falling asleep reading to this book. Odysseus goes on a long journey and meets lots of people on his voyages such as the sirens who are sexy ladies that make a lot of noise.
