Lowering Population in India and South Asia Mike Rubens 1 st period 9/18/20 The problem of overpopulation exists nearly everywhere, and if it does not currently exist, it will in the near future. People are having several children, and that is greatly exceeding the death rate. This problem is especially apparent in South Asia, and it is causing several problems such as famine, epidemic, overcrowding, etc. The country of India is in dire need of aid in the decreasing of their population. There are approximately 25 births for each 9 deaths. That is nearly a 1.
58% increase in population. The billionth baby was born not to long ago and if this rate keeps up, the problems are only going to get worse. The area of India (Including the Himalayan mountain range) is 1, 222, 243 square miles. And since the population is nearly 1. 1 billion, that makes the population per square mile about nine thousand.
1. 1 billion people in an area equal to 1/3 the size of the contiguous United States. This shows how much help is needed in South Asia. There are several methods that can be employed in order to start curbing over-population. The first is an obvious method that has been employed by china successfully for some time now. Limit the amount of children that everyone is allowed to have.
1 would be the fastest track to redemption but that may also cause some problems. People might kill their child if they do not get the sex that they want, for a woman’s status is determined by several factors including if she can bare a male child. 2 children would steadily decrease the population but in a slower manner for the reason that it would solely depend on deaths to decrease the population. To enforce the law, strict punishments including required military service for the father and the new son or large fines can be created. But limiting the amount of children allowed by law may seem kind of harsh. There are still other methods of lowering surface population in India.
The Essay on Population Distribution Of India
Population distribution is how people are dispersed over a given area. Population distribution is measured by persons per square kilometer. An area (or country) can be densely populated, which means there is a high concentration of persons per square kilometer, or sparsely populated, which means there is a low concentration of persons per square kilometer. The distribution of population can be ...
The Country of India has a GDP of 1. 8 trillion dollars. A new tax dubbed, ‘The population tax’ can be enacted, that for a small some of money monthly, can aid in the fight against over population in South Asia. The tax would do this by constructing free clinics with a variety of ways to help. The first of which is to provide the strictest confidentiality about anything that occurs inside. A barrage of free material as well as expert advise would be in the clinics for anyone to learn about safe sex, and anything else that needed to be there.
Free contraceptives would be given. Of course Abstinence with 100% effectiveness will be recommended but if this will not be done that other methods will be suggested. Sterilization has a 99+% effectiveness rating, and although costly, will be given for free. Norplant implants with the same effectiveness, will available. Birth control pills with a 97% rating will be available to all females wishing them.
Condoms with 88% effectiveness will be imported by the boatloads and told to use with foam to increase effectiveness to between 95-98%. If no physical birth control is desired, then patients will be informed of Coitus Interruptus (withdrawal) with 82% effectiveness, Rhythm (Natural family planning) with an 80% effectiveness, or abstinence. The problems in India are terrible and if the population declined, so would some of these problems. With these tools, a good estimate would say that the population would be stable at about half India’s current population in about 10 years.
If the people in India today were willing to do something for the people of India tomorrow, such as their own children, It would be a better place. Works Cited I.
