By: Gertrude Warner My Rating: I give this book a seven because it was kind of obvious. It was still interesting and I would suggest reading it. Mrs. Lane made a portrait of Violet because she saved the cat and she was the only one who the cat allowed to be picked up by. The locket Benny Found with the medal detector has on it the initials R.
L. That is what started the whole book. This is the medal finder Benny used to find the locket. He got this from Mr. Lee. This is the black curtain Mrs.
Lane hid behind so no one could see her. This is Mrs. Smith. She has not talked to anyone for many years. She is very shy.
This is the cat Violet saved from the car. It belonged to Mrs. Smith, so she took it to the towers and Mrs. Smith let her in. Violet is the first person to go in that doesn’t live there permanently. This is the tower Mrs.
Smith and Mrs. Lane live in. This is the car that almost hit the poor cat of Mrs. Smith’s. In the city where this story takes place, you have to watch out for the drivers, they don’t watch out for you.
I was so surprised when I opened up the cereal box and out popped a leprechaun, covered in the crumbs from the Lucky Charms. He had a marshmallow clover stuck to his forehead. He brushed himself off and I saw he had on a green pointy hat, a shirt made of gold, shorts made of green felt, and shoes with bells on the end. He was only as big as my hand, but could eat a lot. He had eaten half the box in the two hours he had been trapped in there. Since he had eaten so much, his stomach was big and he couldn’t move very fast.

So I was able to pick him up in my hand. The little man told me that his name was Kelly Green and that he was 391 years old. We talked for awhile about what kinds of things he liked to do. I told him how I had made a leprechaun trap but that they were too smart for me to catch.
I told him how much I like the gold coins they had left in my trap. He laughed when I said that I couldn’t believe how easy it was to catch a leprechaun with only my hand. He was worried that he was going to be in trouble with the other leprechauns because he had been caught and was going to have to give up all the gold. I told him I didn’t need all the gold.
He was so relieved I thought he was going to faint. Kelly said, “You have been so kind to keep me from drowning in the Lucky Charms and now you are not going to take all my gold. I will grant you three wishes.” I was very excited! I did not want to waste my wishes by deciding too quickly what I wanted. I thought about it for a long time.
There were many things that I would like to have or places I would like to go. After thinking for a long time, I told Kelly I had decided what wishes I wanted. “I would like to have enough money in my pocket each time I decide to buy something. That way, I won’t have to have to worry about someone stealing all my money from me.” , I told the leprechaun.
Kelly thought that was a good idea. “What is your second wish?” he asked. “I wish that the Oscar Meyer people would pick my class to do their television commercial.” I told the old man. “What is Oscar Meyer?” he asked me. I told him all about the plans to sing the Oscar Meyer song and how we wanted to have costumes and get to be on T.
V. He laughed so hard that he fell back into the Lucky Charms box. I gently picked him up by the hem of his shirt and set him on the table. I still had one more wish. I said, “I want the earth not to be polluted.” He said, “That’s a very generous wish, but there are some things that even leprechauns can’t do alone. That will take all the people of the world working together.
You can help by telling everyone what I said.”OK, my third wish is to be able to travel to all the states in the United States.” I told him. “Your three wishes are granted. You have been fun to talk to.” He said as he jumped back on top of the Lucky Charms box. “I hope to see you again sometime. Good Bye Mr. Green!” I exclaimed.

He disappeared back into the Lucky Charms box. I thought he was going to eat some more cereal, but I heard a “poof”, and when I looked in the box he had disappeared. I will always remember the day I met my leprechaun. The End.
