Originally the guys, Benji, Joel, Billy, Paul, and Aaron, former band member, which recently left the band to pursue his own efforts in the music industry – are from Maryland. Good Charlotte are a hard-driving, fun-loving band that first has astonished Washington, DC radio station WHFS’ and the distinguished HFStival for the past two years. Their self-titled Epic Records debut album is a triumphant, rowdy celebration of high school kids who found a way through music to talk back to their tormentors and survive troubled times. Good Charlotte contains a collection of modern upbeat songs that convey deep personal, frequently funny, lyrics. “Me and Benji have always written from personal experiences,” says lead singer Joel. “Thank You Mom” is a song written by the band twins, Benji and Joel (as well as all the other songs).
They felt like they needed to thank their mom for all her support throughout all the hardships. During what Joel calls “a weird time” when they were 16 and dealing with some serious family and economic problems, they barely survived, working a series of low-paying jobs as stock boys, waiters, and their best job being shampoo boys at a beauty salon. Although all this, they were still successful and were signed this yar to Epic Records. The songs is as follows:
Always, always and forever
Always, always and forever
I’m sitting here
I’m thinking back to a time when I was young,
My memory is clear as day,
The Essay on Concert Songs Band One
The Concert of a Lifetime The concert has begun after a fifteen minute delay caused from the powder snow that started early on in the day and continued through the evening. There I stood up in front of the small crowd on this snowy Sunday evening. I glanced out upon the crowd as the piano picked up speed and intensity. I knew that I was about to strike that F chord in a few measures. I quickly ...
I’m listening to the dishes clink,
You were downstairs you would sing,
Songs of praise,
And all the times we laughed with you,
And all the times that you stayed true to us,
Now we say,
I said….
I thank you,
I’ll always thank you
More than you could know,
Than I could ever show,
And I love you,
I’ll always love you,
There’s nothing I won’t do to say these words to you
That you’re beautiful forever
Always, always and forever
You were my mom,
You were my dad,
The only thing I ever had was you,
It’s true
And even when the times got hard
You were there to let us know
That we’d get through,
You showed me how to be a man,
You taugh me how to understand the things that people do,
You showed me how to love my God,
You taught me that not everyone knows the truth
And. . .
I thank you,
I’ll always thank you
More than you could know,
Than I could ever show,
And I love you,
I’ll always love you
There’s nothing I won’t do to say these words to you
That you will live forever
Forever . . . and ever
Forever . . . and ever
I said…
I thank you,
I’ll always thank you
More than you could know,
Than I could ever show,
And I love you,
I’ll always love you,
There’s nothing I won’t do to say these words to you
I thank you,
I’ll always thank you
More than you could know,
Than I could ever show,
And I love you,
I’ll always love you,
There’s nothing I won’t do to say these words to you
That you will live forever
“Thank You Mom” delivers a simple message, just to say thank you to mom. The band appreciates music and loves it very much and they believed that the best way to say this was with a song. First it starts with someone just thinking and the thoughts of all their mother has done for them begin to flow. That is when they begin to mention them all. Finally they say all that they have learned from mom and that “she will live forever.” This means that in their hearts their mom will never die. I think this is a good way to look at things; it is similar to Shakespeare’s Sonnet when he says that whomever he dedicates the sonnet to will live as long at the sonnet shall live. We can obviously infer that their family problems includes the fact that their father was not there with them, as they say, “You were my mom, You were my dad, the only thing I ever had was you, it’s true.” I found this song to be extremely touching and beautiful. Therefore here are some reasons why I personally chose this song. Although, I cannot entirely relate to it because I haven’t experienced what they have; I am a teen, maybe as many others, who does not have a good constant relationship with her mother. I do not mean cliché arguments such as “ I don’t like my mom because she does not let me go out with my friends.” I mean I do not get along with my mother because I feel we are completely opposite people who are related because its one more of the many challenges that God has decided to make us both face. And even though there might have been times when I have said, or the thought struck my mind, that “I hate my mother” I know that I delude myself because deep down inside I know I can never do that. You can’t change the way you feel, and I will always love my mother in a very special way. I have in fact, dedicated this song to my mom and have heard it with her and those are the times I’m sure we both will never forget. And I know that there are teens, some of my friends such as Michelle, in fact, that do have a great relationship with their mothers and I do , at times, envy that, but I have realized that I can successfully construct such relationship with my mom as well. For those who are listening to this and who do not know me very well, this may sound as though there are frequent serious problems between my mom and myself, however, that is not what I am pursuing because it is not true.
The Essay on Love: The Four Letter Word
Love, the four letter word that binds us all together. Whether it is the love of a significant other or your best friend, love is the glue to all relationships. Love is important as it give purpose and significance to bonds created with others. When you truly love another, the love for them is put above yourself. The main types of love are Companionship Love, Romantic or Sexual Love, Family Love, ...
I honestly believe that it is the age that I am going through that causes certain misapprehensions. As well as the fact that I am my mom’s first-born teen and she has never experienced parenting a teenager before. Therefore, this is a new happening for both of us. I have collected different points of view towards this song, and someone said “ it is completely redundant and cliché” but I absolutely disagree with that. As well as someone else who said “they’re thanking their mom who has always being there for them, and its not cliché because they try to say and do something to thank her because she defended them from everything and was a good teacher for them.” Another reaction was that of surprise, with the words “I would have never thought they sang this song” just because Good Charlotte is a Punk Rock band, and today’s society believes that rock bands are all about insanity and vulgar language and gestures. However, my second reason for choosing “Thank You Mom” is the fact that it completely contradicts society’s point of view.
The Essay on Buffalo Springfield Band Stills Rock
Aside from the Byrds, the only other band that had a tremendous influence on folk-rock and country-rock in the sixties was Buffalo Springfield. They were noted as a key impact upon the counter-culture of the sixties, and their music is symbolic of the turbulence and controversy that surfaced during harsh times of war. The group's formation was coincidental and legendary. Stephen Stills and Richie ...
This shows Rock bands do have feelings and do remember and keep in mind everyone’s most important person, our mothers. I am a fan of Rock bands and most of these songs are about personal problems from the artists’ past unpleasant encounters with life. Lastly, my third reason for choosing this song is the simple fact that it gets me thinking a lot about many things that I do not appreciate on a daily basis. Concisely, I hope this helped us all to think and picture our mothers, who are the most amazing creatures on Earth, and make us have the urge to go home and give them a big hug and just say “thank you.” Because even though we may not realize it, but if those two little words makes anyone smile, even when it comes from a stranger, it must feel like you are on top of the world when you hear them from someone who came out of your own body. So let’s all make our mothers smile and say, “thank you mom, I love you”.
