Macbeth Reflection Paper
Having a moral center helps guide people to see the rightness and the wrongness in a situation. This moral center give people the opportunity to stay focused on the right path than to roll over and give yourself up to a wrong decision. In the play Macbeth both Lady Macbeth and Macbeth start with a strong moral center but choose to obliterate this moral character through tough decisions. When Macbeth and his wife choose to ignore their moral centers, they allow their feelings and emotions to take over and guide them down a path they may not have wanted.
The first test of Macbeth’s moral center was when Macbeth was conceived by the witches who were hypnotizing Macbeth about a prophecy in which he became the king of Scott Land. He first realized that he had to kill the current leader of Scott Land at the time, Duncan. “If it were done when ‘tis done, then were well it were done quickly, If th’ assassination up the consequence and catch with the surcease success…” (1.7.1-4).
Macbeth’s moral center was put to the test and he went against a strong powerful man at that time would have choose. He allowed the witches to mess with his feelings and mind and drove him into a hole that was too deep and complicated to get out of.

The second test of Macbeth’s moral center was he got killing hungry and went after his partner in combat. “This have I thought good to deliver thee, my dearest partner of greatness, that thou might not lose dues of rejoicing by being ignorant of what greatest is promised thee” (1.5.10-13).
Macbeth’s moral center is being tested here by deciding whether to murder his greatest partner who is air to the thrown to become king himself. This is asking Macbeth to kill the friendship and the relationship he has with his partner, Banquo, in order to become one step closer to king of Scott Land.
Some real life examples of people who have to use their moral centers to ensure the safety of people, themselves, and anyone who the decision affects happen in our everyday lives. One example of this is when a superintendent has to make the most brisk and insightful decision by choosing to cancel or allow school for weather reasons. The superintendent has to consider the safety of the staff, the bus drivers, and the students will be safe to ensure that no matter what decision he or she makes, there will be no dilemmas or hazardous situations. Comparing Macbeth’s moral center to Hunterdon Central’s superintendent moral center, it shows how the moral process and decisions made by each character figure were completely different.
A good life means that you have made wise decisions and lived your life to the fullest without any regrets. People can’t carless and dreadful lives because they are going to regret and want to take back many decisions or choices that they have made. To live a good life you have to accomplish a goal or complete something that you have always dreamed of doing. It doesn’t matter if it helps you or other people, all that matters it you have helped or enjoyed the time that people spend on this spinning sphere we know as earth.
As a result having a strong moral center is a key characteristic when attempting to live the best life you can. Throughout the play Macbeth, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth did not show the viewers that they had a strong moral center by the decisions that were made and the decisions that could have been made. Macbeth had chances throughout the play to reverse or try to regain control of his moral center but he still allowed his emotions and ambitions to get to him and guided him down a path he would not have wanted to enter. Moral centers are in characters from late plays written by Shakespeare and other old writers and even in people in our everyday lives.
