William Shakespeare is known for many of his popular plays, such as Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet. One of his most famous plays is Macbeth. Macbeth is a play about a Scottish king and his maniacal thirst for ambition. Two of the most exciting characters in Macbeth, are Lady Macbeth and Macbeth. They share many similarities such as determination, ambition and ruthlessness.
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth share a strong thirst for ambition. Macbeth showed his ambitious traits through out the story, when Duncan declared Malcolm Prince of Cumberland. Macbeth angrily stated “ let darkness hide my ambition. The work the hand must do is not for the eye to see”. Lady Macbeth shares this same trait she was focused on making sure Macbeth was king in what ever way she possibly had to. Lady Macbeth told Macbeth “ to alter favour , ever is fear. Leave all the rest to me” Her thirst for ambition paved the way for Macbeth to murderDuncan and become king.
Lady Macbeth and Macbeth were both very determined and ruthless. In act two during the entire plot to murder Duncan, Macbeth was having doubts and felling sad and remorseful. Lady Macbeth on the other hand was determined to kill Duncan and blaim the death on the chambermen. Once Macbeth killed Duncan, he returned to their chamber bloody and frightened. Lady Macbeth took the bloody daggers and returned to Duncan’s chamber. Lady Macbeth planted the daggers on the chambermen and put blood over all of them.Macbeth was also very determined as the story continued. Macbeth wanted to be the one and only king on the throne, and he was willing to kill anyone close.” we have scorched the snake but not killed it” Macbeth plainly stating to his wife that, his quest for the top is not quite finished.
