Introduction. It was interesting working on the 3 leadership cases under change in working condition. As it is said “Not every one is born to be a team leader. But most people can learn the skills it takes to become one.” The fun part was the cases brought international culture in the discussion and this group has people from form different culture that made the discussion more interesting. The example from different sectors and couple of country made the discussion points more clear and helped in understanding the concept of culture affecting leadership in organization. Our points got more clear and as we discussed and shared our thought through the online discussion.
Initially we disagreed on case 1 where were we discussed that manipulation of the employees is widely use and if is ethical or unethical. But at the end we came up with the “Ethical” use of manipulation tends to benefit all parties concerned, but “unethical” use may enable the manipulator to profiteer at the expense of the interest of the manipulates. Answering the question of, when does persuasion become manipulation? Persuasion is the simple straight forward process, where manager states his position, then outline the supporting argument, followed by highly assertive data-base exposition. In other word you are logical, persistence, and personal enthusiasm to get others by good ideas. If the persuader is rough, hard on employee, has his personal interest, and when the persuader is not willing to hear the views of the colleagues and not willing to make changes in response to their needs and concern leads to manipulation.
