Through the last four years I have seen a drastic change in my reading habits. I went from a reader who read when she had to, to one that does it because she enjoys it. Through these years my reading habits have changed drastically. When I read I need to be alone, I need no one else around. I usually do most of my reading in my room with my headphones on. Many may think that reading with music on could be distracting but for me I feel that it helps me relax and concentrate more on the task at hand.
I also take time when I read, I read a chapter, take a break then start over again. This helps me the most, because during the break, I think about the book and what I just read. I go back to reading the book with a greater understanding of what I just read. The time of the day best for me to read is early in the morning, usually right after I wake up. I am a morning person, and I do most of my best work in the early hours. I have a wide range of reading preferences; I love to read everything from magazines to mystery books.
Yet out of every book I have read, I have learned to love non-fiction. My favorite book is on that I read my senior year of high school. The great Gasby is a classic book that I recommend for anyone to read. I love to read mostly anything except for sci-fi novels. I feel that those stories are too unbelievable and they do not follow a story. Those are the only kind of stories that I do not like to read.
By reading I hope to expand my knowledge for my writing. Reading helps me improve my vocabulary, and helps my mind expand in many different ways. I hope that some day to become a writer for a magazine, and reading helps me in many ways to become a better writer. I feel that anything you read will help you further your education so I dont have biases on which reading material I prefer because I prefer them all. You can learn even the littlest things from reading an editorial in a newspaper. Just reading other peoples ideas and their thoughts helps you understand your world a lot more. I also love to read poetry too. Poetry is my link to my creative side, it helps me explore different sides of myself.

I feel as if poetry can almost be more helpful then reading novels. Reading different types of literature makes reading so much more interesting, because you never know what you are in for. I feel as if I appreciate every writer the same. Anyone who is willing to put his or her thoughts onto paper and let the world read it must have confidence. Something that I admire most about authors and the jobs they do. I feel that if my reading habits improved this much only in high school, I am excited for what levels it will get up to in college. I am excited to learn and if that means reading story after story then I am willing to do whatever it takes. Many college courses have you read novels, and to me I feel as if they should range it a little to get the most out of the student.
