mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and broadest branches of engineering. It is a profession that concern itself with mechanical design, energy conversion fuel and combustion technologies, heat transfer, materials, noise control and acoustics, manufacturing processes, rail transportation, automatic control, product safety and reliability, solar energy, and technological impacts to society. MECHANICAL ENGINEERS study the behavior of materials when forces are applied to them, such as the motion of solids, liquids, gases and heating and cooling of object and machines. Using these basic building blocks, engineers design space vehicles, computers power plants, intelligence machines and robots, automobiles, trains, airplanes, furnaces, and air conditioners. Mechanical engineers work on the jet engine design, submarines, hot air balloons, textiles and new materials, medical and hospital equipment, and refrigerators and other home appliances.
Anything that is mechanical or must interact with another machine or human being is within the broad scope of today’s and tomorrow’s mechanical engineer. Mechanical engineers also design tools that other engineers need. They often work as part of a team that includes scientists who develop new theories and methods, and mechanical engineering technicians who assist engineers with some of their more routine tasks. Mechanical engineers design and develop machines that produce energy, such as car engines and nuclear reactors. They also design and develop machines that use energy including air conditioners, power saws, elevators, and printing presses. Mechanical engineers work on various types of equipment and machines ranging from tiny mechanisms for delicate instruments to huge gears for bulldozers.
The Essay on Mechanical Engineer 2
Mechanical Engineering is one of the best fields of the engineering spectrum. Other engineering professions include electrical engineering, civil engineering, and structural engineering among others. Mechanical engineering is found to be the most interesting of the careers available engineering professions because it affects all aspects of activities carried out by human beings like health, ...
The field of mechanical engineering is very broad, and some of the diverse job titles include air pollution control engineer, environmental systems engineer, manufacturing engineer, and automotive engineer. Mechanical engineers generally specialize in one area of engineering. For example, they may work with aircraft engines or with commercial refrigeration equipment. Other fields of specialty include fluid power, instrumentation, and bioengineering. Some work in a particular industry, such as petroleum or plastics. Within each branch of mechanical engineering there are specific jobs. Some engineers design products. They must determine the needs of the user, the physical problems of building the equipment, the cost of the equipment, and its effect on the environment. Other mechanical engineers supervise the production and installation
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Goals and Objectives GOALS
After consultation with program constituencies the Faculty of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science have established the following goals for the students completing its BS degree program in Mechanical Engineering. 1. The graduate will be well prepared to successfully practice as an engineering professional. In addition to being in demand by leading companies, as a result of their engineering training, this goal means that the graduate recognizes the importance of becoming a licensed professional engineer. Such registration is important, and is required by law if they are to: a) own their own engineering firm, b) teach engineering, c) hold a position in industry that is responsible for “sealing” the engineering design certification for products produced by a company for use by the public.Seniors are strongly encouraged to take the Texas Fundamentals of Engineering Exam that is offered on campus each April. It is the first step in becoming licensed.
The Essay on Mechanical Engineers Work Engineer Study
A mechanical engineer works with the principles of motion, energy and force. Usually a machine changes one form of movement into another. Mechanical engineers design machines whose parts work in a safe, reliable and efficient way. Mechanical engineers apply scientific method to find the answers to mechanical problems. Many laws and principles developed by scientists are used every day by the ...
2. The graduate will be well prepared to synthesize various technical fields so as to produce engineering designs and to effectively communicate aspects of those designs to others. This goal recognizes that written, oral and graphical communications and presentations are important in producing safe and effective designs, and for working in groups. Those processes are increasingly common in design projects. 3. The graduate will be well prepared to successfully obtain a graduate degree at a top rated school. This goal reflects the consensus that while obtaining a BS degree is an important and significant step, formal education beyond the BS degree is important to all our students. Many professional societies support the view that a graduate degree represents the first professional degree.
OBJECTIVES
Students receiving the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree will have an ability to rationally formulate and solve mechanical engineering problems. This includes the ability to: 1. Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and computing through the use of analytic techniques, experiments, computer simulations, and other modern engineering tools. 2. Design and conduct physical experiments, analyze, and interpret data. 3. Develop and assess design criteria forming the basis for a safe and effective final design or product. 4. Design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs. 5. Function on multi-disciplinary teams.
6. Communicate engineering and related concepts effectively in written, graphical, and oral form. In addition they will have:
7. An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility. 8. A broad-based education that extends beyond math, science, and engineering and prepares the student with knowledge of contemporary global and societal issues that affect engineering practice and the impact that engineering has on these issues. 9. A recognition of the need for and an ability to engage in life-long learning.
