I am a friendly, pleasant, active, enthusiastic person who hails from India, one of the fast growing nations, which is known for its cultural, religious, linguistic and ethnic diversity. I am a masters graduate in mechanical engineering from IIT Kanpur, one of the India’s prestigious and world-renowned institutes. As a masters student I was involved in several research projects of A RDB (Aeronautical Research and Development Board) and also earned a publication to my credit. I am a gold medallist in bachelors, also in Mechanical Engineering, from Os mania University another pioneering institute. Right from my childhood I remained a rank student in every school I went to, this acted as goodwill and gave me tremendous confidence to go ahead with my own decisions in almost all the crucial times of life. I have good interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and an insatiable zest to learn and improve, which I think are the important requisites for success.
After working for more than 7 years I want to go into an MBA program in Business Administration. My interest in business management falls way back into early years of my career, and doing an MBA remained a dream till date. All these years of actual industrial experience gave me more insight of technical skills and increased my interest towards management skills and I strongly feel that it would have a positive impact to succeed in my graduate work. We all are aware that various mechanical subjects demand application of basic logic and math skills. My Engineering background has improved my analytical and logical skills. While doing my bachelors I also handled a supervisor job in Reliable Power Systems Inc, this really helped me to learn more subject as well as leadership skills.

Applying what I studied in the classroom to real world was a fabulous experience that I had during those years. It was only then I had realized the importance of real-time engineering and several other miscellaneous factors to be considered during the actual production and deployment stages. I feel all these experiences have certainly influenced me and shaped me into a better person. During my masters I was impressed to see the amazing potential of Information Technology and was fascinated by its dramatic growth. As I opted to go into software and visualized myself to be a software engineer I kept improving my programming skills. I then joined software firm named Dun & Bradstreet Satyam Software (currently known as Cognigent Technology Solutions) through the campus placement program.
I have learned and excelled in various mainframe technologies with in the corporate training that lasted for a year. I enjoyed being in both software and in mechanical engineering fields as both the fields have challenging tasks that demand creativity and organizational skills. Hence, I believe that with my diverse knowledge and experience I can contribute a lot to CSU Los Angeles, CA. Upon my successful completion of the corporate training I was placed at AC Nelson, Green Bay, WI in the year 1997 on my very first offshore assignment. Being in Green Bay I got a fantastic opportunity to observe American work environment, its interesting culture, and food habits.
As a programmer analyst I was involved in the then current technologies so intensely that the company asked me to mentor new people coming on to the project. Also, our immediate managers were extremely impressed by my unique and well-organized way of reporting project status and milestones. Apart from all the above I developed interest in football and still remain a Green Bay Packer fan. In 1998 I joined Ciber Inc. a huge consulting firm based in Phoenix, AZ. Ciber interested me for its immense potential for any software professional to grow technically.

My first assignment was in American Express (AMEX) where we were involved in developing FINCADS for Brazil. FINCADS (FINancial Capture And Distribution System) was developed to assist the company needs in Argentina market when AMEX card was introduced in that country for the first time. On my next assignment I moved to Motorola Inc. one of the major employers in Phoenix area.
Here I was engrossed in a project which dealt first in separating financial systems for On Semiconductors Inc when it was spun-off from Motorola Inc, then in supporting and maintaining both systems. Working at AMEX and Motorola Inc gave me an opportunity to look forward into technologies other than what I was doing. Both the companies had very competitive environments and they were aggressive in being current by platform migration, up gradation, and installing newer systems. To keep the pace with the growing companies I studied and became certified Sun Java Programmer, and certified Oracle Database Administrator. My attitude of staying current fetched me another extensive job at CalPERS Sacramento, CA in the year 2000 that lasted for little over two years. On this project I was using my Java knowledge to migrate platforms.
The project was ACES (Automated Communication Exchange System) that helps California state employees and employers to gain online access to the retirement details. As a Systems Administrator my responsibilities were to create various environments, stabilize, and resolve day-to-day administration problems. I gained a great deal of experience on open systems as I was dealing with Web servers, Application servers, Networks etc. I was closely involved with different groups such as DBA, Networking, Development, and Testing.
These interactions with so many people once again arouse my interest towards MBA program. In this project I also received several performance certificates for being a good team player and good technical expert around. I am now at LACE (Los Angeles County Office of Education) to handle their current project that deals with migration of all the legacy applications from one platform to another. And also to convert the legacy online applications to a combination of both the legacy and open systems by web enabling them. This project therefore would be challenging for me, as it needs the application of all the knowledge that I gained over the years. Despite the above technical expertise I realize the necessity to possess deep understanding of intricacies of business management to be a successful professional in the technical environment.

Even if someone has natural management skills, I feel it is important to follow a defined and tested curriculum that is supervised by experts. Moreover, I saw that some management teams really couldn’t work effectively and stay underperformed, as they do not have qualified MBA’s or technical experts on team. My ultimate goal is to be a top-notch manager or an executive who has both technical and managerial skills. I therefore would be more than privileged to be in CSU, LA’s MBA program..
