Media Bias in Politics The Medias are being traditionally referred to as the democracys fourth column, in the sense that they influence peoples minds to a great extent, which is often a single factor that defines citizens political affiliation. One of the most important principles of democracy is independence of Medias. In theory, Media owners biggest goal is to deliver honest and unbiased information to the people, while leaving it up to them to come to their own conclusions. Of course, it is given that Media owners have the right to express their own opinion about the covered topics; however, the ideological uniformity in how Medias describe political and social events, is the first indication of democratic country beginning to turn into authoritarian state. Only a very naive person will deny the fact that American Medias are highly biased. It is a fact that 75% of American newspapers and broadcasting companies are owned by the representatives of chosen people, even though that they consist of only 3% of American population.
This is why, the mainstream Medias in this country have turned into the tool of political manipulation. Their true purpose is brainwashing people to the extent that they are unable to use their own judgment, when it comes to discussing the issues of political importance. We live in time when American citizens are being continuously poisoned by the concept of political-correctness, which many people refer to as the curse of post-modernity. It does not take a genius to realize that there is a certain trend in how mainstream Medias cover events. In his article Who Rules America?, Kevin Strom makes a perfectly good point when he says that American Medias are given the task of promoting political correctness and multiculturalism: For example, a racially mixed couple will be respected, liked, and socially sought after by other characters, as will a take charge Black scholar or businessman, or a sensitive and talented homosexual, or a poor but honest and hardworking illegal alien from Mexico. On the other hand, a White racist — that is, any racially conscious White person who looks askance at miscegenation or at the rapidly darkening racial situation in America – is portrayed, at best, as a despicable bigot who is reviled by the other characters, or, at worst, as a dangerous psychopath who is fascinated by firearms and is a menace to all law-abiding citizens (Strom).

During the hurricane Katrina, there were despicable scenes of looting, which were taking place on the mass scale in New Orleans.
This looting was being done exclusively by Blacks and Hispanics, yet the news channels used to continuously repeat: crime has no color. Why would they do it if this simply does not correspond to the objective reality? It is because the builders of multicultural utopia in this country are actually trying to adjust the reality to their obscure doctrine and not the other way around. Medias simply serve as their lackeys. Liberal Commies are telling Americans that U.S. is a multicultural country and that any other opinion simply has no right to exist. Moreover, they also think that European countries should also adopt multiculturalism as some kind of political dogma, even though that it harmful to societys integrity. In his editorial The End of Tolerance, which can be found on the site of Newsweek Online, Stefan Theil whines about the fact that Denmark decided to limit the influx of aliens from Third World countries, who openly express their hatred towards Denmark, because there are not enough mosques: What’s going on here? Werent the Dutch supposed to be the nicest people on earth, the most tolerant nation in Europe, a melting pot for minorities and immigrants since the Renaissance? No longer, and in this the Dutch are once again at the forefront of changes in Europe.
The Term Paper on American Values And Media part 1
American values and media This essay is going to argue on the subject of spreading or distorting the American values through traditional mass media. It is a traditional viewpoint, that the modern media are distorting the values, which the elder generations used to have. It is also argumentative, as for whether the media themselves make the traditional American values change, or it is the ...
This time, the Dutch model for Europe is one of multiculturalism besieged, if not plain defunct (Theil).
Author suggests that abandoning the concept of multiculturalism is something unthinkable. The worst thing of all, however, is the fact that his opinion is nothing but a reflection of Newsweeks official position, in regards to the issue, because Newsweek has turned into the tool of Liberal propaganda long ago. The same situation is with The New York Times. Every once in a while, it is possible to find a sensible article in this newspaper, however, the overall tone of news coverage in it does not leave a doubt that New York Times is also being used to brainwash people. Here is a good example.
In his article Theres No Shortage of Intolerance in the Workplace Hubert Herring suggests that American workers suffer enormously from intolerance. He refers to Howard & Associates survey of 623 employees, which is being done in 2005: Thirty percent of those surveyed said they overheard racial slurs last year. Twenty percent reported ridicule of sexual orientation and 20 percent were privy to age bias (Herring).
According to the author, American societys most important goal is to appease homosexuals and to celebrate diversity, as if nothing else mattered. For Herring, the fact that American workers loose their jobs, because companies move their production lines to China, does not have any importance. He is not concerned about the fact that, for example, 70% of software programmers in America are being imported from abroad, because the educational standards in this country are dropping rapidly, which is a direct result of celebration of diversity. It is the same everywhere. Once we turn on TV, there is a good chance that we will hear about racial prejudices, white male bigotry and sexism, within a next few minutes, after we begin skipping through the channels.
At the same time, we will not be able to hear a comment on what we witness with our own eyes, on everyday basis: American towns turning into crime-ridden ghettos, the illegal Mexicans raising Mexican flags over U.S. official buildings, while demanding legalization, taxpayers money being wasted on combating worlds hunger or helping the needy children of Somalia in time, when the gap between rich and poor in America is widening rapidly. The biasness of American Medias especially becomes noticeable, when it comes to describing the conflict in the Middle East. The Israeli are always being portrayed as peace loving people, who simply try to fight terrorism. This is despite the fact that Israel continues to occupy Palestine, contrary to U.N. resolutions, despite the fact that Israel deploys racial apartheid as its official policy, despite Israeli soldiers being numerous times caught on camera, while shooting at Palestinian kids on the street, for the sake of their own amusement.
The Term Paper on American Cultural Influences on Young People of Romania
The Abstract The present study aims to present the phenomenon which affects the Romanian tradition. I speak here of pronounced dissemination of cultural elements from overseas in Romania. Thus, although it is well documented that the language, film, music, food and dresscode of Americans are well established in current practice, my research purpose is to analyze the frequency with which those ...
The reason for this is very simple Jews, as ethnic group, have the most powerful political lobby in U.S. In its turn, this can be explained by their close association with Medias and entertainment industry. In his article US Media Bias: Covering Israel/Palestine Remi Kanazi says: Every time a suicide bombing strikes Israel, mass coverage of the tragedy begins instantly. Whether landing on the front page of The New York Times or taking up the headline block on CNN.com, the pain Israeli people endure is shown endlessly. Israelis do suffer. Suicide bombings are horrific. Nevertheless, Palestinian pain occurs far more frequently, and yet often overlooked by the mainstream American media (Kanazi).
It is hard to disagree with the author. The biasness of American Medias is a proven fact. When White person kills a Black robber, for example, it is automatically being discussed by the Medias in terms of hate crime. However, if White person falls victim to a Black gangsta rap fan, it is usually being described as a result of domestic dispute, in order not to stir up a controversy. This trend comes hand in hand with jamming political correctness up peoples throats. The American government spends millions of dollars, while promoting the concept of democracy abroad.
At the same time, the democracy in our own country has come under very grave threat, because American Medias are rapidly loosing their independence. We can say that Americans are left with only one independent source of information – Internet. Nevertheless, the hawks of political correctness are trying to impose censorship even there, while disguising it as combating the hate. It is hard to say whether American Medias are going to recover from the poison of political correctness, which was injected in them during the sixties, however, we can be sure about one thing for as long as people have the access to the independent sources of news, it is too early to say farewell to democracy in this country.
