After being elected onto the prom court, Michelle realized that this could potentially be the best day of her life. She decided to go to the largest party of the night with her date: the ever-so popular, brawny, state-caliber wrestler of her high school- Buff Studly. Not knowing him well, the fact that he asked her to the prom was inconceivable. All of the guys considered her as too good to be any fun, because she would never go to parties or let any guy take advantage of her.
However, this time she made an exception; she wanted to show everyone else the other side of her; she wanted to prove that she too could party just like every one else. Convinced by her persuasive date, she decided to have a couple drinks thinking, “everyone else seems to be making out alright, why can’t I try it too?” Being a novice drinker, she did not realize how easily she could become drunk, and sure enough after 4 beers, she was certainly not herself. She was out of control and loving it. “Hey sexy,” said Michelle to Buff as she stumbled up out of her lawn chair. “This is a happening bash.” Noticing her wooziness and being a little buzzed himself, he replied by saying: “Hey, I need to get out of here to clear up my thoughts, let’s go for a walk.” Flabbergasted by this offer, Michelle readily accepted and headed with him into a trail in the woods surrounding the house.
She was having the night of her life- she made the prom court, proved to herself a high-quality parties, and was now on a walk with arguably one of the hottest guys in the school without a care in the world. There was no way she could not take advantage of this moment. “Hey, my back is hurting, can you rub it?” asked Michelle. Buff, being the teenage guy that he was, certainly accepted, where they sat down and started massaging.
The Essay on Prom Night Gone Wrong
Peyton Wagner Period 5 The Worst Prom Ever What time is it? It’s time for the biggest event any school has that all the girls look forward to! It’s time to get a date, a tux to match her dress, flowers to match her dress, reservations at a fancy restaurant, and a fancy car to drive instead of my beat up 1987 Honda Civic. Ladies and gentlemen, it’s prom time! Prom this year is in the ballroom of ...
One thing led to the next, everything was feeling so good, and emotions started to heat up with passion; not a care in the world. This would be the best night of her life. That was, until about four hours later. “What have I done!” cried Michelle as she stared herself in the bathroom mirror, horror-struck by what gawked back at her. There was vomit all over her new tank top. She felt nauseous.
But worst of all, her virginity was stolen. Buff took advantage of her, and her friend for the night, alcohol, allowed him to do so. Later, after finding out she was his 6 th partner, the doctor told her the devastating news that she was diagnosed with genital herpes. All this happened because of one seemingly small decision- to drink that night and “have fun.” What was that? You think this may be a little unrealistic? A little exaggerated? This is a common misconception held by many.
The effects of alcohol strongly impacts decisions that could and does change one’s life forever. Alcohol agonizes the lives of most people in this world- almost every person can bring up an instance where alcohol has hurt their life in some shape or form. An outlandish 41 percent of all falls, 30 percent of all drowning deaths, 25 percent of all boating deaths and 45-55 percent of all fire fatalities are alcohol related. That’s millions and millions of tragedies that would have never happened if it wasn’t for alcohol. In the United States alone there are 100, 000 people who die each year from alcohol related deaths (Wright).
Alcohol could be considered one of the most dangerous drugs for its ability to seem as harmless fun and entertaining to many, when in reality, it kills 6. 5 times more youth than all of the other illicit drugs combined (GDCADA).
Death is not the only field alcohol comes into play with. Emotional sickness, depression, sex lives, date-rape, sexually transmitted diseases, and physical well-being are all hurt by alcohol. It’s been proven that excessive drinking is a primary cause for depression. Let the facts due the talking.
The Essay on Down: Personal Life and Time
In college it is easy to stray away from the main purpose, which is having a higher education. College years are supposed to include fun but not too much fun. There are many ideals to consider when trying achieving success in school. They way students manage their time and consume energy has an effect on the outcome of their success. Relaxation also plays a significant role in the turn out of ...
80% of all adolescent suicides have been reported to be children of alcoholic parents (Wright).
As much as two-thirds of all sexual assaults and date-rapes are related to alcohol abuse (About Health. com).
Every time a teenage girl has sex, she has a 1% risk of contracting HIV, 30% chance of getting genital herpes, and a 50% chance of contracting gonorrhea (Univ. of Neb. ).
A study showed that 60 percent of all people contracting an STD did so while drunk (Rondini).
Having sex while under the influence has also proven to increase chances of pregnancy by 700 percent due the person being too intoxicated to put a condom on right or at all. (GDCADA) What is more shocking, however, is how many people despite these painful facts drink anyway. There are so many facts out in the world screaming to be heard, yet people choose to ignore them, as if it wasn’t true.
Why aren’t people catching on? When I asked a friend to why he and other people drink he answered by saying, “to have a good time,”get away out of stress,”a good way to meet people,” and “because they think it makes them popular.” But in reality, is it a good time when you look back at the night and realize that your car is totaled in the junk yard, or you can’t remember who you slept with last night, or worst of all, you killed the life of an innocent person? Is that how to get away from stress- by causing tons more by selfish and dim-witted decisions? Maybe one may think it is a good way to meet people. I don’t know, but when I meet people I tend to want to let them know who I truly am, not who I am when I’m drunk and not thinking straight. And the thought that drinking makes one more popular is a truly sad thing. If what you mean by popular is having people point and laugh at the ludicrously unintelligent things you do is what you call popular, then maybe you are right.
But last time I checked, urinating your pants and throwing up all over yourself was not the popular thing to do. None the less, these reasons have not kept people, teenagers in specific, from drinking. Eighty percent of high school students reported to have experienced with alcohol. Fifty percent of high school students claimed to have one or more alcoholic drinks within the last 30 days, with 46 percent of teens confessing to be frequent drinkers. Not only this, but the average age in which a person starts drinking dropped from 17. 4 to 15.
The Essay on Effects Of Alcohol Web Drinking Alcoholic
Ethyl alcohol (ethanol) is known as alcohol. It is made by fermenting starch or sugar into different fruits and grains. Beer (usually about 5% alcohol), wine (usually 12 to 15% alcohol), and hard liquor (which is about 45% alcohol), are alcoholic beverages that are made by fermentation and distillation (1). Believing that getting drunk is the only way to have fun is another common misconception. There are many ways of having fun, ways that don’t have such awful side affects to them. For instance, bowling, miniature golfing, going to the lake or beach, playing games or sports, socializing with one another, going on walks, watching movies, and many other things are ways of having fun without such terrible consequences to them. People need to realize the seriousness of this issue. Alcohol has affected people in every aspect for the worse, yet it is going almost unnoticed.
Whether it is physically or emotionally, alcohol serves as the silent killer of millions of people. The lie that tells every user that they are different and responsible is the very same lie that causes alcohol to be such a disastrous and permanent problem. People do not realize how common and severe the consequences of messing with alcohol are. Even the severity of the facts being produced don’t convince people that they too could and more than likely will suffer life long consequences for the decisions being made while under the influence. The reasons for using it are unjust, and until the world takes notice of the immensity of this crisis, they will continue to suffer from its heartbreaking side-effects. – “Alcohol.” GDCADA.

The Essay on People who make decisions based on emotion and justify those decisions with logic afterwards are poor decision makers
The debate of whether to follow emotions or logic is a complex one. As the given statement seems too strong in suggesting that all those who make decisions based on emotion are poor decision-makers, it may be warranted to discuss both the positive and negative role emotions and logic play in our decision making process. In certain cases, decisions based on emotion can result in undesirable ...
