hough mine and little things are the same they are far apart from each other and make us as readers decide for our self what is the best for us the little things or that which is mine .Though mine and little things are the same they are far apart from each other and make us as readers decide for our self what is the best for us the little things or that which is mine. The type of genre I think this would fall into for me would be a Gothic fiction, just from the feel of the short story the dark and gloom that it is describing. Cold and dark the end of the winter I would guess. If I were to analyze both these stories I would be more inclined to say I liked the second one of the two “Little Things”. This story followed much better for me as I read it, I was able to get a better picture of what is going on in the bed room and then on in to the kitchen. I would say the logic in this form of the story is more in tune to drawing a picture for the reader and not so much into wanting the reader to get a feeling from it.
With the story Mine it is more or less trying to get the reader to feel the moment that is happening between the two in the story, as I felt Mr. Carver was trying to do this by running words together such as “sonofabitch” I felt he wanted the reader to get the feeling that she was yelling at him and not just calling him the name as a way to be cross or uncivil, more as to be hurtful to him and make him feel the pain that he was making her live with. In Little Things the whole story is set more to read and get the picture and draws it in your own mind as to what is happening in the situation at the time, the words are in their proper spelling and arrangement also making it easier to follow for me. Little Things is in my opinion a more thought out and planed story time was used to set the stage and get the reader in to the picture as with Mine the title gave me the idea it was all about what is mine or yours for a lack of a better term making the small child a possession and not a human being not something with feelings or thoughts.
The Essay on Short Story Connor Reader Grandmother
"A Good Man is Hard to Find", written by Flannery O'Connor, resembles an intricate painting, a beautiful picture built by many different parts. These parts work together to complete a perfect mental picture for the reader. Plot, point of view and character aspect of the short story weave together to allow the author a chance to portray the ideas created just for that purpose. The short story ...
The title of Little Things is more subdued as it starts to lend itself to let you believe that the story is talking about two people that have a love for a child (Baby) and they both want to have it not as a possession but more as a part of them. The wording in this story or version is more written to get the point and picture as I have said before it is more likely to pull more people to read and understand not having to try and figure out what the author is trying to get you see but let you draw your own picture and just give you literature to do it with. One could use any of the rhetoric platforms to describe this or both of these stories it is a very well written story it could pull any reader one way or the other I would dare to say I could even be pull in another direction if I were to read it again at a later time. Mr. Carver has shown himself I feel to us in several different ways in both of the theses stories one in “ mine “ very up tight and angry way and then in “Little Things” the same anger but in a more subdued way not quite as aggressive as the first writing of Mine.
