Icy blue eyes open to the sound of a tiny alarm clock beeping, ivory hands slip out from under the golden blanket’s that cover my body to turn it off. ‘It’s time to wake up…my time to awaken.’ I think while rolling over to get out of bed. My feet touch the cold carpeted floor as I sit on the edge of the bed for a moment before walking to the open window. I open it and see the sun peeking over the mountains; I sigh. This is another day…one that will be filled with the hope of many. I run my fingers through my shoulder length blonde hair as I close my eyes and let the sunlight warm my face. I hear the morning blow of the whistle from that train so clearly that even a mouse couldn’t disturb it. I smile slightly at the heavens above seeing god’s wonderful creation of day and night. I know that my family won’t be up for another 2 hours so I push the screen out of my window and watch it fall on the floor of my bedroom. The same screen that used to block my freedom. I jump out the window and land on the soft damp grass like a cat…not making any sound. I am still in my white flannel nightgown with no shoes or socks on my feet. I walk down my backyard and wave to my neighbor as she goes out to get her morning paper; I walk to a small creak in the woods and sit down beside it. I cup water in the palms of my hands and stare at the reflection and it stares back at me. I stand up and run happily back to the house in which I was raised in and I climb back in through the window smiling as I lay down on my bed and watch the sun continue coming up.
