I am currently studying civil engineering and urban planning at the National Institute of Applied Sciences INSA in Lyon, France; I am aiming to pursue my studies for the next academic year 2014-2015 at YONSEI University as an exchange student. I have always wanted to study in an Asian country. When I was given the chance to apply for an academic exchange in a foreign university, I have immediately chosen South Korea. Indeed, it naturally attracts me because of the wealth of its culture and its recent and spectacular economic growth. Seoul is the reflection of the economic Asian dynamism in the creative industries’ sector. Discovering an unknown culture, the Korean mentality, experiencing new working methods, and understanding the mechanism of this dynamic country are the reasons why I wish to discover South Korea and experience its way of life. YONSEI is one of the best universities in South Korea. Its notoriety and its reputation are very well-known all over the world.
All the students I know from INSA Lyon who studied there strongly recommend it. They expressed a deep satisfaction with their year abroad and the courses they took. Therefore, I believe that going to YONSEI will put me in an adequate environment that fosters learning and discovery and will bolster my qualifications and assets. Moreover, my motivation is reinforced by my thirst for new experience. I am eager to discover the Korean traditions and culture that particularly interest me. In order to make the best out of my year in South Korea, I have already started learning the language and I wish to enhance my knowledge by practicing. It would be a great pleasure for me to share my own culture with local students, by cooking typical meals for instance. I hope that this letter reveals my excitement and motivation in the prospect of my year abroad and I look forward to hearing from you.
