This assignment took me a lot of time, not because it was complicated but because of choice. I couldn’t set up my mind on which film to describe, I was desperately at loss. Cinema is quite young sphere of art, but it has produced an astounding number of films of different genres. Some of work you can find fascinating, well though-out and totally satisfying, while others can be boring, embarrassingly weak and totally disappointing. I cannot say that in particular only one genre appeals to me the most, the soul of each film is its plot, and if it is interesting, fascinating and it carries some specific and even unique idea – I will watch it. So, I fixed on such films like “Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels”, “Fight Club”, “Green Mile”, “Revolver”, “8 Mile”…well, you see this list is endless. But, finally I made up my mind. So, “Catch Me If You Can” is the film which the best appeals to me. Directed by genius Steven Spielberg the film was released on the 25th of December in 2002. This is American biographical crime film based on the life of Frank Abagnale. Leonardo DiCaprio staring as Frank Abagnale Jn. and Tom Hanks as Agent Hanratty.
I consider this film to be well thought-out and absorbing chase after Frank Abagnale, who, before his 19th birthday, successfully performed cons worth millions of dollars by posing as a Pan American World Airways pilot, a Georgia doctor, and Lousiana parish prosecutor. His primary crime was check fraud; he became so skillful that the FBI eventually turned to him for help in catching other check forgers. While watching this film, you won’t be bored for any minute. Thoroughly enjoyable plot is combined with brilliant acting of my favorite actors. Intriguing scenes will keep you in tune all the time, so you certainly won’t fall asleep. Superb costumes and sets are corresponding to 1960’s. Also, it is not only a story of successful crimes, but also a story of love. But, to intrigue you, I’ll keep silent about this part. Every play has its end, Frank was sentenced to 12 years in prison, and you may think for a while that this is it, the end…but, no the story of our hero only kicks into gear. So, if you are bored on Friday night, you may watch this ravishing work, which will totally satisfy all your expectations. This great screen adaptation delicately combines humor scenes as well as scenes of desperate loss and hopelessness. It will astonish you, so don’t miss a chance to watch it.
