My room, although the easiest and laziest choice for an essay, does have its interesting qualities. The inspiration for this essay came about almost instantaneously when the thought for a topic emerged. One look at my room will convince anyone of its power, uniqueness, and manipulation. The surroundings are unbearably media oriented. From the television, to the computer system, to the posters, my room has been customized to fit virtually every need of the thriving college student in the new millennium.
The dismal implication of this room is the very example that it states. My room, although unique in its own way, is not unique among most middle-class college student bedrooms. One shouldn t be able to receive so many resources from their bedroom. Generation X is a generation raised by the media. This generation watches the news on television instead of reading it in the newspaper. In fact, one can even get the latest news over the Internet, while chatting with their peers. This is of course if one even cares to know about the latest news. Television and the Internet have replaced the entire need to be physically connected to the world. A community used to be able to have one movie theatre, one video store, one mall, and/or one sports complex. A young person in this millennium doesn t even need any of those things. One can watch movies on television, through Pay Per View. One can buy videos, DVD s, or any other product imaginable through the World Wide Web. People don t even share the excitement of their hometown sports teams now that satellite television can bring you all the games you need. Concerts can now not only be seen on television, but also can be bought on video, DVD, or seen on the Internet. Now one can lose the need to see live music. With the entertainment industry thriving, young people don t look for intellectual leaders as role models anymore. The athlete with the best-circulated endorsement, the actor starring in the summer s largest blockbuster, and rock s top-selling artist are the expected examples that adolescents look up to. It is very difficult to state the claim that any of these people somehow changed the world. Men and women who change the world, not who make the most money, are the ones that we should study and follow.
The Essay on Internet Generation
We live in the age of information and technology, a great milestone which humankind has reached within a remarkably short period. Just only a few decades ago the average persons had very limited access to information because due to lack of technology. Everything transformed since the introduction of the Internet, which is a relatively novel phenomenon in the history of mankind. We are the ...
My room has almost every possible means of communication and entertainment available. Its is stacked with cable television, a top-of-the-line computer system, telephone, cellular phone, and radio. One can get any information or entertainment with these instruments. Some of them can even serve the same purpose, while others make their own addictive contribution. Who needs the telephone to communicate with another person when one can use email or instant messaging? The only thing television is good for now is entertainment purposes. All news, educational and noteworthy information can now be accessed through the Internet. The computer will soon replace even the radio as well. Radio stations are now starting to broadcast through their websites. The Internet is a media monster. It can engulf the life of anyone with its endless possibilities.
My room displays examples of these points. The only two posters inside of my room are of music groups. The most repeated image inside of the room is Dan Marino, a retired quarterback of the Miami Dolphins. There is more sports paraphernalia dealing with the Florida Panthers and the Super Bowl as well. Basically all information, entertainment, and media can be obtained in my room.
The consequences of this situation can be damaging. If so many needs are provided in the bedroom, one might forget the importance of establishing physical communication with others. This is very common. The people skills or tactfulness of a person can be easily impaired when physical contact is not necessary. The intellectual aspect of a person s personality can grow just as well, or parish. One can watch television all day and still not receive the same amount of information displayed on the front page of a newspaper. Useless information concerning entertainment or sports outweigh the minuscule amount of quality news found on the idiot box.
The Essay on PESREL analysis of entertainment and media industry
Introduction The Entertainment and Media industry is a constantly evolving group, with prospects in certain subsectors being much better than in others. The problem will only get worse. With the Internet growing larger everyday, at an unprocurable rate, the next generation will forever be doomed by the media information instead of intellectual news and learning.
