Heroin is a commonly abused drug in Singapore. The chemical name of Heroin is diacetylmorphine. Its common name is Heroin as mentioned above. Heroin belongs to a group of drugs known as opiates. These are some ways in which Heroin affects the body. Heroin affects the central nervous system by depressing it.
Heroin depresses nerve transmission in sensory pathways of the spinal cord and brain that signal pain. Heroin also inhibits brain centers controlling coughing, and breathing. Therefore, Heroin is a very effective painkiller. Heroin affects the person taking it both physically and emotionally. Heroin effects are extremely detrimental to the health of the person addicted to heroin. The physical effects of Heroin would be reduced pain, nausea, drowsiness, reduced respiration and reduced coughing.
However, an over dosage of Heroin would eventually result in the death of the user. The psychological effects of Heroin would be a sense of well-being, reduced anxiety, addiction and withdrawal. After reading Animal Farm, I agree with the statement, “There is no such thing as Utopia.” , to a large extent. There are many aspects of the novel which support my view.
These aspects of the novel are problems faced in the achievement of the Utopia Old Major wished for. One such aspect would be the natural aggression of animals towards each other. The dogs’ aggression towards the rats after Old Major’s speech is a good example of the natural aggression between animals. This would deter the formation of an Utopia as the animals would not be able to live in harmony with each other. Even if an effort is made to change this natural aggression between animals, it would not succeed as this natural aggression between animals is part of their nature and can not be easily changed. This aggression between animals would mean that they would not be able to live in harmony as wished for by Old Major in his speech.
The Term Paper on Alcohol Aggression Theory Expectancy Effects
Relating Alcohol to Aggressive Behavior From the beginning of recorded history, alcohol has been a part of human culture. However, it appears that the correlation between alcohol and violent aggression is a trait solely to the American culture. So the question that must be answered is Is it the alcohol, or is it the individuals expectancies while under the influence of alcohol. There has been ...
This would mean that the Utopia Old Major wished for would be highly infeasible to be achieve.’ Another aspect of the novel which supports my view would be the inequality of the animals. Some animals, such as the pigs, were considered more superior than others. An example of the pigs’s uperiority would be where the pigs claim the milk and the apples solely for themselves. This inequality of animals is caused by the different levels of intelligence of the animals. The pigs, born more intelligent than the other animals, began to take a leadership role in Animal Farm. Later in the story, their leadership turns into tyrannical rule and they start to treat the other animals unfairly.
The nature of the certain animals which include their level of intelligence is infeasible to change. This inequality of the animals is anti-utopian and does not support the idea of Utopia. Another major difficulty in achieving Utopia would be the corruption of ideals. This is caused by the greed of the pigs and is allowed due to the ignorance of the animals.
In the earlier part of the story, Old Major tells the animals about what is later known as Animalism. In his speech to the animals, he tells them to obey the rules which he has set down. However, as pigs rise to power, all of the rules are disobeyed and the ideals of Old Major are forgotten. The pigs even changed the commandments to suit their own interests. The pigs also become greedier and forget all Old Major’s sayings. This corruption of ideals is caused by the greedy nature of the pigs.
These aspects of the novel are part of the animals’ inborn characteristics and would not be able to be changed easily. Therefore, a major difficulty in achieving Utopia would be the inborn differences between animals. Another anti-utopian aspect of the novel would be the fact that some animals do not work at all yet they are able to enjoy the fruits of labour of the other animals. Such animals include Mollie the mare and the cat. This is due to the so-called equal distribution of food among the animals. This implemented measure is impractical and instead of achieving its aim of building an Utopia, it is anti-utopian.
