With over 70% population living in rural India, more than half of them are youths. Rural India today is undergoing a rapid transformation. Even as agriculture continues to be a major source of livelihood for rural population, the younger generation is eagerly turning towards alternative sources of livelihoods. This generation of rural youths is keen to obtain an education and skills for their livelihood and survival, necessary to become a part of India’s growth story in the industrial and service sectors.
The need of the hour is to train these youths for result oriented and life coping skills for gainful employment, who — if trained and motivated properly — have the capability to build a new strong future not only for themselves and the society, but write a new chapter in the history of India, making it an economic super power in the world. The only thing, which is required to be done, is to ignite the minds of these rural youths.
From my point of view, skilling unemployed rural youth is skilling India. While training rural youths, the trainer, faculties, the director and the institution need to instill in the youths a sense of dignity, self respect, respect for life and faith in himself. The practical skills, which are useful in day-to-day life, may turn the youth into entrepreneurs which will help more youths with opportunities in rural areas itself. One needs to get an opportunity to succeed, which will help many.
The Essay on Youth in India
Essay on youth Young people are full of abundant energy, courage, spirit for adventure, imagination, hope and ambition. These can be very well used in constructive and developmental activities. These should not be allowed either to go waste or used for destructive purposes. The young men and women of India should be fully involved in the creative work of nation-building and reconstruction. Today, we find that many industries are moving their operations to rural areas or smaller towns. However, as factories and enterprises move away from large cities, they face dual challenge:
(i) To source skilled manpower from local areas, and
(ii) To meet to the growing aspirations of the local youths, who desire jobs in their companies, though they have very few employable skills.
There is a need for helping hands to come forward to help youths of rural areas from less privileged section of the society, who for various reasons has been unable to receive a formal quality education beyond school level, acquire the requisite skills for obtaining gainful employment and reaping the benefits of economic growth. It is equally needed that trained rural youths be linked with prospective employers.
In the present era, started after the Second World War, UNEMPLOYMENT is a global phenomenon. In the last few decades, there had not been a single country —developed or developing — whether USA, European countries, Japan, the developing countries like India, China, Argentina, Brazil or the underdeveloped countries, which is not reeling under the grip of unemployment increasing at an alarming rate year after year.
We all know the reason behind this :
Population growth
Lack of education
Lack of employment opportunities
Lack of employment generating training programmes to the core of the heart of policy makers and the implementers at large
Communication gap and communication failure
Reduction in the dimension of Agricultural Land due to industrialization and increase in residential complexes on agricultural lands
Reduction in the production of Agricultural produces due to lack of hands needed for agriculture
Lack of adopting scientific methods for the Agricultural production
Migration of villagers and workers from villages to urban locations for want of livelihood and better living and amenities, like power, transportation, etc.
Degrowth of Cottage Industry
Lack of the right trainer and the real motivators, who can take initiative in recognizing the talent of the individual training, understand the problem in the candidate and motivate them to understand their interest, weaknesses, strengths and capabilities and then suggesting them the right path and work, they will be successful in.
The Essay on Teaching in a City Versus Teaching in a Rural Area
I grew up in an urban area, studied there for twelve years, and then moved to a big city to pursue my teaching career at a university of education. That day, before going to the school, I promised to myself and to my parents that I would return and bring the light of knowledge to my hometown . However, things have changed. After studying so hard and graduating, I applied for a post in a school for ...
Need to think and understand by the policy makers, why a Government Programme fails? What and where were the lacunae in implementing the programme successfully? What changes are needed and required for betterment?
Lack of Uniform Guidelines : Apart from the Ministry of Labour and the MHRD, there are 17 ministries that are currently working in the areas of skill development. Several of these ministries are running one or more vocational training schemes that involve private partnerships. The guidelines for private players differ significantly from one scheme to the other. There are differences with respect to infrastructural requirements, limits on revenue per student, screening and approval criteria and terms for release of payments across schemes. Even for the same central government scheme, there could be varying terms and conditions across different states where it is being implemented. The resulting complexity for the private player is immense.
India’s primary training infrastructure consisting of I.T.Is. and Industrial Training Centers is inadequate to meet the diverse skills requirements of the populations, because these institutions are able to provide vocational skilled employment generating training to approximately 3 million youths, which is approximately 7% of the total youths of the rural areas in the age group of 15-30 years.
Characteristics of the Rural Unemployed Youths
The biggest problem, which I have come across while conducting training programmes for youths from rural and semi-urban areas are as follows :
Poor learning outcomes due to Disparity of Quality Education
Ability to read and write
Speaking and communications skills
Low employability skills (soft skills)
English
Presentation skills
Etiquette and hygiene
Work ethic
Not adaptable
Low numeracy
Low computer / IT familiarity
Lack of multi-skills
Disparity of Income and Poor opportunities for Entrepreneurship
Dream of becoming billionaire overnight without doing any / much labour
The Term Paper on Training And Development Training Plan
All businesses that compete within a market have one goal in common: to be set apart amongst their competitors as one that consistently delivers their goods or services with increasing quality and service. It is this very thing that differentiates a business’ good or service from that of the competition. Ultimately, an organization seeks to build brand loyalty and long standing relationships with ...
Is the rural youth really culprits for all the above points? This is only due to the lack of clear vision and experience to implement the right course of action at the grass root level.
We Indians have one of the oldest culture of civilization, which is an amalgamation of assiduous, faith, trust, giving honour to any living organism with the philosophy of “Live and let others live”, Aatithya Satkar by adopting the philosophy of Vasudeva Kutumbakam.
The teachings of Geeta and Swami Vivekananda and the excellence of Acharya Ravindra Nath Tagore will always be the pathfinder for the young generation and blessings in disguise.
Life teaches us lesson. Every sun brings different thoughts for us to learn. It shows different colours and shades of life. It’s up to us only, whether we take that lesson with positive spirit or just ignore them.
From the growth and development point of view of the rural youths, we need visionary, like Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, whose vision, leadership and decision-making capability is very much needed to give a direction in achieving this task of providing vocational training to rural youths for establishing their own business of their choice and liking and become an entrepreneur.
Decision-making has lot of importance in the present day scenario not only at the professional level as an entrepreneur, but at the personal level too. As Micro-Finance is to helping the poor, Teaching & Training in micro subjects and topics on Self-Awareness, Self-Direction (goal seeking & purpose oriented), decision-making, winning, results, commitment, passion, self-determination, self-worth, self-respect, self-confidence, positive thinking, self-motivation, self discipline, communication, interpersonal skill, team building is required, which is the key to develop professional and entrepreneurial skills of the rural youths.
