New Balance’s Company Mission Statement states, “Demonstrating responsible leadership, we build global brands that athletes are proud to wear, associates are proud to create and communities are proud to host. ” In this mission statement it is clear that New Balance strive to have a product that everyone involved in the product can be proud of, from the CEO to the sales representative. The mission also states that it also wants a product that, “communities are proud to host. New Balance operates five factories in the New England region of the United States and another in California. These companies provide many jobs to the communities in which these manufacturing plants are located. Along with their mission statement New Balance has a very straightforward objective, “Equip the elite and everyday athlete with footwear, apparel and accessories that provide the best performance, fit and comfort. ” 25% of New Balance’s shoes sold domestically are produce in the United States.
New Balance also, when possible, obtains materials from domestic suppliers. With attempting to obtain materials from domestic suppliers, New Balance will only stamp the product, “Made in USA”, if the domestic materials value is greater then 70%, if lower then 70% then the product is labeled domestic and imported. This commitment to only label the product, “Made in USA”, if it is so is an honest procedure conducted by New Balance. Many other companies may try to label a product as, “Made in USA”, when the product may not be made of domestic products.

New Balance ethics in how they label their athletic products has a great affect on how consumers view the products the New Balance produce and sell. New Balance does face challenges like many other companies, but have other challenges by manufacturing domestically. Unlike other major athletic manufacturers like Nike and Adidas, which have all production overseas. Even with the challenges of manufacturing domestically, New Balance has also used this to their advantage with high quality labor forces.
With a high quality labor force New Balance does not have to worry regarding product quality, this means more focus can be placed on new innovation. New Balance is a company not like many others in current times, providing high quality products that are still being manufactured in the United States. New Balance can succeed by manufacturing in the United States by maintaining a strong belief in their core values and sticking to them. With ongoing commitment to integrity, teamwork and total customer satisfaction, New Balance can continue to strive and thrive in the current economic system.
