The first movie we viewed in Sociology with Professor Erbes is “The New Eve”. The New Eve is a video study about finding our beginning, and saying where we as a people came from as far as where we first began. After viewing this video it has made it even harder to believe what one believes as far as how we all started. One can believe in the infamous boom theory that says an asteroid hit the earth and killed all the dinosaurs and human genes were created from the mass and we evolved from that. Another belief is that we were all created from mud by God and life was breathed into one man and he ruled the land alone, yet when the man grew tired of being alone God put him to sleep and created woman from one of the man’s rib, then the man and woman populated the world themselves and this is how it is believed that we are all related. Every myth or belief of how mankind all concludes that we are all related and basically come from the same place whether it is by a big giant boom from space or a creation from the almighty. I will be identifying and discussing three main points from the video “The New Eve”; first point is that the first humans were hunter-gatherers next point is, then next point is about the existence of Neanderthals before humans, and the last point is about the most incredible migration. The first point is that the first humans were hunter-gatherers. I agree with this point because they passed this trait on to all humans down the way because even to this day we still are hunter-gatherers in our own way. We do it in every activity during our daily lives; we hunt for jobs, companions, friendships, and homes. As for gathering we do this act with our families, our coworkers at work when theirs an issue or an important matter, we do this act in school when we have assignments our study groups for class. So this act really does keep and keep in its own way in our daily lives and we do pass this on to our children and our children’s children and so far on. An example from the video is when the different colonies or groups found their places on different continents and sought out for food and shelter for their families and colonies.(409)
The Term Paper on Human Needs Good Life
What makes a life a truly human one? Is it possible to make a sort of identification when a "life has been so impoverished that it is not worthy of the dignity of the human being?" (Women, Culture and Development, p. 74). This is the very question Martha Nussbaum, leading female Aristotelian philosopher, addresses throughout various pieces of her work. What she has tried to do is establish a list ...
Second point from the video “New Eve” is the existence of Neanderthals before humans. I agree with this point because there is scientific proof of their existence through geographic studies and finding and also carbon dating. An example from the video is when the documenter stated that Neanderthals had been rulers of Europe before African descendants arrived. Another example from the video is when the scientist found the skeletal remains of a Neanderthal and built it’s face based off how they rebuilt the skeleton. Within ten thousand years of humans existence Neanderthals became extinct.(503)
The third point is about the most important migration. I agree and disagree with this point because in my opinion there are two incredible migrations. One incredible migration is when the African descendants originally crossed the Red Sea and begin their migration to explore the world. The second incredible migration is when the African descendants crossed the Bering Strait after exploring all of Europe, Asia and Africa to explore North and South America. An example from the video is when the African descendants first crossed any body of water in the beginning of the film they lost a lot of people both elderly and children because no one knew of water or how to swim. Most of then drowned during the very first migration because they did not know the depth of the water or just lost their footing and slipped into a deeper part of it. Another example from the movie is when the lighter skinned African descendants crossed the Bering Strait later in the film dressed heavily in warm clothing protecting the from the harsh weather . They lost even more people from babies and elderly to wound when crossing because some people froze to death or just passed out from dehydration and lack of food and water.(735)
The Essay on The Great Migration African American
The New Negro Generation was one of the most dynamic generations of the African American race. Not only did this generation assist blacks in moving out of the south, but it also changed the heart of the black community. It signaled a new dynamism and a new aggressiveness. The Great Migration was the migration of thousands of African-Americans from the South to the North. African Americans were ...
In conclusion the impact that the information imparted from this video is unavoidable. This information helped form a hypothesis to a lot of questions concerning the start of humanity. The points discussed in my paper are relevant because they go into detail on the where about and comparisons of first humanity and now humanity of today. The first point is carried on as of today because we need this to describe. The second point I discussed explains the existence of Neanderthals. The third point I explained and discussed the migrations.(803)
