No More Pre-Game Get Togethers For Greeks With fall quarter just around the corner, Eastern Michigan students are gearing up for yet another Eagles football season. This year there is not only excitement but quite a bit of resentment in the air as well. For the first year ever, sororities and fraternities will not be permitted to host their own pre-partys prior to each home Eastern Michiigan football game. The Greeks will be forced to tailgate in the parking lots along with all other loyal buckeye fans and they are not too pleased to say the least! We are not happy about these changes, said Kelly Mor, a senior business major and member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. We werent hurting anyone or breaking any rules, the partys we attended were harmless and very fun. Each year sororities team up with a frat and buy their tickets together.
The pre-partys are always held at fraternity houses, since the university prohibits any drinking in the sorority houses. Sorority members would walk over, drink and socialize there, and then all participants would walk to the game together. Drinking is inevitable at a college football game and having the partys at our house is the safest possible way for us to drink and have a good time, said Joe Willian, a senior political science major and a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. No one drinks and drives because we walk over to the game. Tail gating involves a car which also involves driving. The Greek system is not trying to fight these changes anymore.

Eastern Michigan football is fun no matter what you do or where you go before hand, said Wil. I just wish the university would have thought over its new policy before instituting it for no real reason.
