1. What were your feelings after reading the first chapters of the book, After reading the first half, After finishing the book. When I first started reading this book, I thought it was going to be very draggy, and that there would really be no story to it. And that it would be such a hard book to get through even though it was so short. Then as I started getting further and further into the story it got more interesting. I started to enjoy reading it about half way through. Some things seem a little far fetched, that?s what you get when you read fiction though. I don?t really like fiction, so it all seems fake to me. There were some pretty interesting things that happened to Kino and his wife Juana. I liked the book, when it was over, I thought that it was a good book to have read. The ending I think is the best, I usually don?t like endings that end quickly but for some reason I thought it fit this story. 2. Did this book make you laugh? Cry? Cringe? Smile? Cheer? Explain. Well there were a lot of different emotions that I felt during this book. So many good things and bad things happened. In the beginning I just couldn?t wait to get done the book. Then when Coyotio got stung, I felt bad. And then I felt even worse when Kino didn?t have money to hire a doctor. But it was cool that he happened to find a pearl that he thought was worth a lot of money. I could go on like this through the whole story, for every time that my emotions changed. But basically in the end I was sad. I didn?t like the idea that the baby dies, after all of that started just because Kino wanted to save his son?s life. And the baby dies in the end. So over all I would have to say that the story made me cry (even though I never actually cried or cheered or smiled).
The Essay on Candace Robb Owen Book Story
This book is fictional, yet based on fact. It is an entertaining mystery by Candace Robb. When Candace Robb was a child she loved books. She promised herself that she would read all the books on the shelves of a library. She never did it, but still read lots of books throughout her life. Her first efforts at writing were poems. She moved into a journalistic stage which lasted all throughout ...
3. What connections are there between the book and your life. The only connection I can see between the book and my life would be the need for more money. I see that with anyone though. Everybody always wants more money. I don?t need anymore, but we all want more. And as Kino proved, people will do whatever they can to get the most money out of something. It?s just human nature now to get as much money as you can, and be greedy basically. 4. What is the most important word in the book. There really isn?t one word that sticks out from the book other than the most obvious. Pearl. It is what the book is based on. The pearl is what was going to save Kino and his family, but at the same time it was what destroyed his family. Or so they think, and I believe that it did to though. This is a tough question because the story was basically narrated, and I don?t think that too many narrated things are very good passages that stick in your mind. But one small thing, was when Kino?s brother told him to follow god. I thought that was pretty good, and his wife told him to do the same thing when he was going to kill the trackers and she was hiding in the woods. The whole reason why any of this started was when the baby (Coyotio was stung by a scorpion) so I believe that must be the most important event otherwise there really wouldn?t be a story! 5.
Who should or shouldn?t read this book? I don?t really think that there is really any specific group of people that shouldn?t read this book, I think that anyone who wants to read a ?to-the-point? book that is good, should read it. And you have to be the type of person that can stand not having the characters themselves tell the story. 6. What was the best part of the book? I think the best part of the book was when Kino and his family were running from the town and the trackers. It was interesting how they would send people out to look for them and Kino knew that they were coming and that he knew what they would be looking for. Although what happens while they are running from the town has to be the saddest part of the book happens now I still think it is the best part. 7. Did you like the ending? What do you think might happen next? As I said before, I liked the ending, even though I usually don?t like endings that don?t explain anything, I thought that it really fit this book. I am not really sure what I think will happen next. I think that the ending after this is black and white. Either Kino and his wife will get into trouble for killing those people, or they will have no trouble at all.
The Essay on I Believe That Every Thing Happens for a Reason
But now I have learned that it is true. I can’t really explain how I came to realize, because I don’t really know. I guess it was just through my parents and through me becoming more mature and understanding as I grew older. I have learned through my own experiences and struggles of accepting things that happen in my life that I didn’t expect. In my opinion, there is no such thing as luck. ...
The way that they walked back into town though makes it seem as thought they will see no trouble. I think that someone would have stopped them before they could have gone to their home. I think that the townspeople knew that they never meant for anything that happened to happen, and with the death of their son it makes things worse. 8. What came as a surprise in the book? I think the biggest surprise was when Coyotio was killed. Another thing also though that was a surprise was when the pearl buyers said that they wouldn?t buy Kino?s pearl. The whole town thought it was worth a lot of money except for them. So that was a shock, but it also seems like something that could be sort of expected with someone who never really seemed to have any luck before then. 9. What parts of the book seemed believable, unbelievable. Why? I think that when he found the pearl it was pretty unbelievable. Just because it was too lucky of a thing to be true. I think it would have been more believable for him to find a smaller, less glamorous pearl. Another thing that seems pretty unbelievable was how the baby got shot, just as a random shot from far away. I guess it was just fate. 10. What made you wonder in the book? I wondered, how old Kino, Juana, and Coyotio were. I also wondered what state they were in. This is something that I don?t like about fiction stories, everything being told to you is not real, so it makes it harder to relate to a story. Or to wonder about things just because why do you want to wonder about something that never happened? 11. Which character reminds you most of yourself? I think that Kino reminds me the most of myself, just because he was so determined to get what he wanted (the money for the pearl).
The Essay on The Cicada Many Things to Many People
In this century of rapid scientific discovery, there still exist natural phenomena with the power to inspire wonder and mystery. The cicada, an insect known since ancient times, is one such phenomenon. Because scientific knowledge of the cicada contains many gaps, these mysterious insects can still stimulate our imagination or lead us into confusion. At the present time, the cicada is many things ...
I just don?t really think that I would be as drastic as he was. I don?t think that I could ever kill a person, but I would do anything and everything to get what I wanted for that pearl. And I would get very upset about someone ruining my canoe just as if someone had ruined my car. And I would do anything to save my son also and get very frustrated trying. 12. Who reminds you the most of a friend? Coyotio reminds me the most of my sister not a friend. Even though she is 10 not still a baby, she is a very helpless person. She doesn?t stick up for herself, just like Coyotio couldn?t. She keeps quiet when she knows she has to, and tries as hard as she can just to be not seen. 13. Which character would you like to be in this book? I don?t know if this would count, but I would like to be the doctor?s wife. I wouldn?t like to be snobby or as money hungry as the doctor (that would be a good thing about being his wife, I could straighten the jerk out) I would like to have some control in the society that they live in. And if my husband was being ignorant, I would have him do what was right, not what he wanted to do. Although I know in those days women didn?t have the say that they do today, but I could have always tried.
And if she didn?t count because she really wasn?t in the story, then I would want to be one of the neighbors to Kino and Juana. I would want to experience what they went through from the outside and not have to actually deal with what they went through but be able to see it. 14. What would you and your favorite character talk about in a conversation? I would talk to Juana. I think that I would discuss with her, what it?s like to make the people you love as happy and as comfortable as possible and when they aren?t happy, what you can do for them. I would talk about what it?s like to go through pain and suffering and keep all of my emotions bottled up inside away from everyone because that?s what I would have to do. 15. Do you think the title fits the book? I think that the title goes good with the book. The story is based upon Kino finding a pearl, and the name is the The Pearl. So I think that the title fits the basic storyline. 16. What was the author saying about life and living? I think that the author was saying that no matter how much we all want some things. And how much we think that we may need something. If we really look at what it is that we want and what we are going to have to sacrifice to get it, is it really worth it? And do we still want it? Like Juana had said early on in the book that the pearl was a curse and it was evil and that Kino should get rid of it, he didn?t.
Six Paragraph Book Review of The Pearl by John Steinbeck
What price would one be willing to pay to achieve all of their wildest dreams? 1,000 pesos? 50,000 pesos? What about the respect of their community? Even worse, the life of their child. While Kino did not intend to lose any of these attributes in his quest for a better life, his stubbornness guided him to murder and ultimate heartbreak. It leaves the reader questioning, what price should be paid ...
He was set on getting what he wanted. And she knew that they weren?t going to get anything out of it, but things that they probably wouldn?t want in the future. 17. Has the book helped you in anyway? I don?t think that the book has really helped me in anyway, it could help other people. I don?t think that it helped me because, I know when something is worth it or not, and if people advise me not to go through with something then I usually don?t. And if anything goes wrong along the way, or if I have second thoughts then I usually end it right there. I know though that there are people out there who don?t know when things are going bad and when things really aren?t worth it anymore. 18. Have you changed after reading the book? I can?t say that I have changed after reading this book. Like I had said before, I already would have known better than to go through all of this trouble over a pearl. And this is also fiction, and fiction really doesn?t affect me the way that non-fiction does. I know now that people on horseback would search the woods for ?runaways? I always just thought that people who ran away were free, as long as they were never caught and as long as they never came back to the town that they were in.
20. What questions would you like answered? I would like to know how old the family is along with the baby. Whether or not Kino and Juana got into trouble. I would also like to know how the baby got hit with the bullet but Juana was fine. 1. I learned that there were people called trackers who would chase after ?convicts? in the woods. 3. Pearls were accidents, and that they are sand in an oyster. 4. News would travel fast, even in those days through a town. 5. People then would just go into another person?s house even though they weren?t invited in, and they would stay as long as they wanted. 9. They would eat hot cakes everyday for breakfast except for ?feasts? 10. Indians had many songs for different things, when bad things were about they said that they had evil songs, they said that they could hear the neighbors songs, and they had songs for fishing, praying, sleeping cooking. Everything had a song.
