Nonprofit Organization In this paper I want to review the essay and then Ill try to answer on the one very intricate question. The essay is about one of the nonprofit organization which aim is giving a shelter for battered women. Betty Rowan, the executive director of SU CASA decided to create it after some sad events, which took place in her life. When she just started she had only 5 hundred dollars of her own savings and firm certitude in the necessity of such shelter. There were many difficulties at the beginning such as neighbors who discovered the purpose of the house, in which the shelter was situated, and successfully took up legal action to have the home closed down. But Betty Rowan did not give up.
She was brought up in a family of five boys and herself and knew how to be adamant. It is outlined in the essay that she had early developed a vocabulary that was liberally sprinkled with off-color language but her boundless energy and her infectious enthusiasm did not let the whole shelter to die out. With the help of few people she found a new house and organized there a confidential shelter for battered women and their children. From the text we can see that within a year, the small group incorporated SuCASA as a nonprofit agency and elected Betty Rowan as the executive director. The board of directors consisted initially of the five women who had helped her and the five other male and female members. SuCASA was recompensed in every sense of this word.
The Essay on Male Directors Movie Women Movies
Gender Influence on the Making of Movies: A Directorial and Production Perspective The direction and production of a movie is a purely personal endeavor; a person making a movie will use his own interpretation of a script or screen play and make a movie the way he see things. The producer will pick a script that he sees as being good, attempt to procure a budget that will allow him to express his ...
It became a well-organized organization with annual budget in $1,950,000 and a vast stuff. Now agency consisted not only from the 24-hour crisis hotline and the shelter but also a legal clinic (where women got temporary restraining orders against abusive boyfriends relatives, or husbands), workshops on womens issues, schooling for the children of women at the shelter, a free support groups for women, counseling services, a thrift shop, and a variety of other services. It is clearly stated in the essay that the agency managed to help thousands of women and children. It always helped those who required the help. The problems started from the complaints towards Mary Marcos, the shelter coordinator. Mary was in this agency from the very beginning and proved herself as hard-working employee, intensely loyal to the Rowan, impatient with any kind of ineptitude and almost brutally frank with her staff. As for me such characterization is rather positive and I would unconditionally entrust my life to such person. Nevertheless, the essay states that Mary treats people too harshly.
Betty suspected that such complains were made out of jealousy and did nothing in response. Later there were few incidents, which in turn led to the petition. It is outlined in the essay that petition was terse, calling for Betty Rowan resignation and the resignation of Mary Marcos. The petition alleged that they verbally abused employees and clients and humiliated clients and was mismanaging the shelter. Rowan asked those wrote the petition to resign if they are so displeased with their work. Some of them did some not. However, Louise Hidalgo, the woman who had circulated the petition, talked Mildred Suzman, the member of Su CASAs board of directors, in to the writing a letter to the Josefa Dempsey, the chair of Su CASAs board of directors.
According to text, Mildred Suzman requested that Betty Rowan and Mary Marcos both be put on administrative leave until the allegations made against them were resolved, launching of an immediate investigation. There was an issue now. What to do? I think, that it is necessary to start an investigation and clarify all the accusations. Personally, I do not think that all this accusations really have a place and it is better to prove it one at once. I also think that the whole thing was started because of jealousy and not because some people were mistreated. Ive read the characterizations of Betty Rowan and Mary Marcos and may say that this agency is their life they would never do something against it..
