In this report I will be writing about different topics of Alaska. They are: Alaskan cities, Alaskan History, and Physical makeup of Alaska. Some Alaskan cities are: Juneau, Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Sitka. Juneau is Alaska’s capital. The population of Juneau is 19, 528. Juneau covers 3, 108 square miles.
Anchorage has the largest population of 174, 431. Fairbanks population is 22, 645, and Sitka’s population is 7, 803. Alaska was part of Russia until William H. Seward bought Alaska in March 30, 1867. In 1897 and 1898 a lot of people came to Alaska, to try to find gold. Alaska was admitted to the Union on January 3, 1959.
It was the 49 th State. Alaska’s state flag was designed, by 13 year old Benny Benson in 1926. The worst earthquake in North America hit Alaska in 1964. It caused 115 deaths and damage of $600 million dollars. Alaska is the largest tate in area, in the United States. Alaska is 589, 757 square miles in area.
The Yukon river, Alaska’s chief waterway, and is the Fifth longest river in North America. Thousands of Glaciers from 1 to 30 miles long fill Alaska’s mountain valleys and canyons. If you stand on top of Mount McKinley, you will be the tallest person in North America. Alaska is a very big state. Alaska is one of the newest states. Eskimos were the first people to live in Alaska.
I would really like to go there some day. Alaska seems like a very fun state.
