If we are perfectly happy we will have god in our presence and happiness is a beatific vision. Humans have deliberate will, which means they can make decisions based on reason rather than instinct like animals.
Wealth leads to all of the other things that are believed to be needed for happiness. Two types of wealth- natural and artifical.
Natural is like food, clothing, & shelter – the natural things created in nature necessary for survival. Artificial- money and cars, things made by humans
You can’t have happiness in health since you will die because of your health no matter what. Health doesn’t guarantee happiness.
Honors does not lead to happiness. Honor is what is given to us & moves us closer to happiness, but honor is extensic while happiness is intersic (I don’t know if these are spelled correctly my hand writing sucks).
Happiness is intersic & since honors is extensic it means honors doesn’t give happness.
Fame & glory does not mean happiness. Fame & glory means someone is praised by the people and is well known, but it doesn’t matter how people know you. What matters is to be known by god. God knows you differently then everyone else.
Power cannot create happiness. Most power is imperfect. Power can be both good and evil, but happiness is only proper and good so it cannot be power. Happiness is man’s supreme good, therefore it cannot go with any evil. Then also, power is a principle, but happiness is the last end.
The Research paper on It Doesn’t Matter Case Study
This is information era. The evolution of human society from agricultural society to industrial society, and to today’s information technology society, shows that information technology is playing a more and more important role. People who can access to information the most quickly would be the winners in the market. With the continuous development of consumer demand, and the progress of ...
Happiness does not consist in pleasure (delight), but pleasure is a side effect that comes with happiness.
Whether some good of the soul constitutes man’s happiness? Courage and virtue belong to the soul, but it is impossible for man’s last end to be the soul itself. Happiness belongs to the soul but it must be obtained from somewhere else.
No created good (artificial wealth) can bring happiness. Happiness is the perfect good, but some artificial things are evil. Happiness is good that satisfies man’s appetite, and the only thing that can satisfy man to bring him happiness is God.
Question 3:
Happiness is an operation (activity).
We must act for happiness as it is actual. Happiness is in the intellective part. Two things are needed for happiness: the essence of happiness and the delight connected with it. Happiness does not consist in the act of the will, but it does exist in the intellect because we attain an intelligible end, and it is made present with us through the act of the intellect, But the delight that results from happiness pertains to the will. Happiness is an operation of the speculative rather than the practical intellect. First because happiness is man’s highest operation and his highest power is in the intellect. Man’s happiness is in two parts- perfect and imperfect. Imperfect is this life we live now with the body, while perfect happiness is with the soul and god. Happiness is in the vision of the Divine Essence. First man is not perfectly happy as long as he desires something & second the perfection of any power is determined by the nature of its object.
Question 4:
Delight is necessary for happiness because it is concomitantly with happiness. Vision ranks before delight because vision is the cause of delight. Rectitude (meaning morally correct behavior or thinking) is needed for happiness antecedently and concomitantly. Antecedently because rectitude is needed for the last end and concomitantly because final happiness consists in the vision of the Divine Essence which is the very essence of goodness. Body is necessary only for imperfect happiness, but not for perfect happiness, for the soul only needs god & the vision of the Divine Essence. A perfect body is necessary for imperfect happiness but not perfect happiness as a body in general is not needed for perfect happiness. External goods are only necessary for imperfect happiness because the body needs them to survive, but they are not needed for perfect happiness. Friends are necessary for imperfect happiness because they give you virtue, they can aid you to do good/you will delight in seeing him do good, and they are good for utility because we need other good people for us. Friends are not necessary for perfect happiness though, only God and the divine essence.
The Essay on A Good Man Religious Pt Of View
Let's take a look at "A Good Man Is hard to Find".O'Conner really puts the reader in the middle class mode and trough's a little religion at us . In this I mean that she really took us to a important part of her mind and writing. One mite say that she lets the Devil come out in her own little way. Question 5
Only a certain amount of happiness can be had in this life, but perfect happiness cannot be attained in this life since happiness is a perfect and sufficient good, it excludes every evil & fulfills every desire & evil in this life cannot be excluded. One man can be happier than another because one man can enjoy god more then another like some gas tanks can be larger then others meaning it carries more as a man can carry more happiness then another. Happiness comes and goes, it can be lost if there is no well directed will. You can loose happiness imperfectly but not perfectly.
