In more than one way, the film release of the Steven Spielberg-Tom Cruise movie ‘Minority Report’ could not have been better planned than what is based on a Philip K. Dick book of the same name. Compared to the Book, movie is more detailed, imaginative, creative and original. And on the other side the original book, that is serviceable but unpolished, it’s also a little clunky and short.
The film renders a much more detailed view of a near-term future world than that present in the original book, like the film also omits certain story details for example, no punch cards. And on the other side the whole book is about 90 pages long, which is not considered a very professional length for a book. Whereas in the movie, the main characters are described and well detailed, for example its starts with John Anderton (Tom Cruise) head of an elite division of law enforcement known as “Precrime”, using the visions of three clairvoyants called “Pre-Cogs,” the Precrime unit is able to determine the exact date and time in the future that a murder will take place, as well as the names of the perpetrator and victim. While in the original story there’s no such plot like that and it just talks about the precrime system and a bit about “pre-Cogs”, and Anderton.
The Essay on Elie Wiesel's Book "Night" And Steven Spielberg's Movie "Schindler's List"
March 20, 1941, the Krakow ghetto is liquidated. 1942, German oppression spills into Transylvania, the Sighet ghetto is liquidated. Two seemingly unrelated events in a plethora of death and oppression. However, both are turning points in two of the most stunningly horrific accounts of the Holocaust; Spielberg’s Schindler’s List, and Elie Wiesel’s Night. There are many ...
When compared to the original book, the film’s plot is much better. The movie plot begins in 2054 and the murder rate in Washington, D.C. has been reduced to zero. The reason is the establishment of the Department of Precrime, which analyzes the visions of three precognizant humans to stop murders before they happen. The Precogs (the trade term for the three psychics) can predict a murder to the second it will occur. The system is so effective that there has not been a murder in six years because of the work of people like department of Chief John Anderton (Tom Cruise).
The federal government is preparing to bring the experiment to the national level, but before undertaking such an effort, the bureaucrats need to make sure there are no flaws with the system and send in one of their own, Danny Witwer (Colin Farrell), to investigate. The officials of the department believe in the system, and even though Witwer doubts Anderton’s capabilities to head the agency because of the loss of his son, he has strong supporters, particularly the director of Precrime Lamar Burgess (Max von Sydow).
While the original book’s plot only discusses about six years since the system was implemented, there hasn’t been a single murder in Washington, D.C. The project has been so successful; in fact, that an initiative is underway to take it to a national level, a concept that greatly concerns the Department of Justice. This proves that the movies plot is much better and imaginative. Movie also talks about future technology in much better and imaginative way as it’s a story that is based on fiction and not reality. All other facts of the crime can only be ascertained by clues given by the various images relayed around the time of murder. Images transfer from the Pre-cogs’ minds to a computer display, and then Anderton manipulates the images in a sort of virtual reality interface to better determine how the murders might or will happen. On the side in the orginal book there is nothing this good it only talks about per-congs and that’s the only main technology used and this proves that movie is more imaginative when compared to the book.
The Essay on Sir Henry Movie Book Stapleton
Imagine if you had to read about the Titanic, instead having the pleasure of watching it. Wouldn t it be boring That s why movies are preferred over books. Movies have everything. A s ance, romance and suspense are all parts of a good movie. Books can only help the reader imagine the plot, but the movie actually takes the reader there. The movie version of The Hound of the Baskervilles starring ...
Movie is also much more creative and orginal when compared to the book as it proves another fact, for example in the ending of the movie Anderton narrates that Pre-crime was shut down and the Pre-cogs were taken to a secret location to live in seclusion, and Anderton ends up remarrying his wife. And on the other hand campared to the books ending, there is nothing like that and instead it says, Anderton died while saving the pre-cog system, as he was shot down by the army because as the future predicted he killed the army commander who was trying to shut down the whole system, which leads us to the conclusion, that the movie is more creative and orginal, for example the movie ending is a happy one as compared to the one in the original book, which is sad. And movie is still more creative in many ways such as the making of it, on screen and it’s also much more easy to follow while on the other hand, the book is a writen text and it’s more harder to follow, as more people perfer seeing than reading. Also, the movie shows more interest and the orginal book is just serviceable.
