A: I find it difficult to determine the nutritional value of food because, it is hard for me as a mother to find time to measure out precise proportions or read every single label to make sure I’m getting a balanced meal, or even a snack.
One way to make it easier is by using the technology available to us in our everyday lives. There are some applications on the iphone, such as MyFitnessPal or NutriScanner, that you are able to scan the barcode on a food or beverage product and find the nutritional value of it in different amounts. 2. What environmental, economic, and psychosocial factors influenced your food and drink choices today? A: So far today my environment has influenced me because of commercials on the television and food signs on the road looking good and making me hungry.
The economic influence on my food choices today has been that I have not gotten to eat absolutely everything that I would have liked to because it’s too expensive. The psychosocial influence on my food and beverage choices today has been my friend buying me coffee and a muffin for breakfast and me letting her; probably not the healthiest meal but it was delicious. I have found that social interactions have a heavy influence (no pun intended) on the types of food that I consume (ie. football season and celebratory events).
