1.At first it seems very hard to define McMurphy`s person. In the beginning he is a gambling fool who is only thinking about himself, later in the book my opinion on McMurphy changes alot, he begins to think about the other patients and help them to gain more self confidence. Nurse Ratched is on the other hand a control freak, she is portrayed more as a machine than a human being, Nurse Ratched has all the control on the institution and she likes it, she wants to control all the patients and even all the staff. When McMurphy came on the ward totally sane and different from all the patients, he gained a lot of Nurse Ratched’s power. To Nurse Ratched is control everything she used to have all of control before McMurphy came on the ward. Before all of the patients was scared with Nurse Ratched and McMurphy tells them that they were like rabbits, so scared. Nurse Ratched repressive the patients, for example Billy when she threaten him that she´s gonna tell his mom if he don´t behave. McMurphy is the protagonist but Nurse Ratced is the antagonist. Both Ratced and McMurphu is fighting for the guys bit in a total different way.
McMurphy tries to find Nurse Ratched’s weakness and he thinks that is her sexuality because she tries to hide her big breasts which is her womanly symbol and shows that she is human. In the end of the book, McMurphy rips her blouse off to show her weakness. Nurse Ratched and McMurphy have different ideas how the society should be, McMurphy is always trying to bring freedom to the other patients but Nurse Ratched finds power to talk that away from patients. She wants to keep the patients seperate. I think McMurphy takes more rational decisions, she breaks the patients down by any meaning she talks about their insecurities, he on the other hand builds them up and tells them how important they are. Even though some of the things McMurphy does seems crazy, but sometimes they are accurate. For example he tells Billy to have sex interlude with Candy, it is rational choice because it builds his self confidence. Nurse Ratches does nothing else than break them down and if they stood up for them self they get punishment

2. Kesey was obviously against American society, he shows how hypocrisy society is with his novel. In the novel is the ward metaphor for american society. Bromden for example sees the ward as a factory for machine which is mistake and when they are fixed they can go back to the society. Bromden also sees the society like somthing that is mass-production. The house are identical and the people are robots except one boy who is outcast, he doesn´t fit in the combine society, like the patients doesn´t fit in the society, they are also something outcast. Combine has spoiled the land according to Bromden. The patients doesn´t feel well because of the society, they feel shame, and they are scared of society judgement. Microcosmos is the ward symbol for something else, the insitition is a microcosm of society because it´s all about rules, individuals and control. The society centred on rules like Nurse Ratched centred on rules. Ratched is like the government, she make the rules and the other one´s have to follow them. McMurphy breaks the rules and is rebel, the government doesn´t like people who breks the rules. Harding is president of the patients because he is educated he like someone politican. The therapeutic community is that a person must learn to get along in a group before he will be able to function in society. Ken Kesey is obviouslu against american society, i think he doesnt like all the social standings like „you have to be like that“. If you are different are you almost rejected.
4.In the beginning if the story, Bromden doesn´t speak and everybody thinks that he is deaf and dumb. He has many hallucinations like the fog and the combine. The fog came a lot in the beginning of the novel because he was so scared with Ratched and he also feel safe in the fog. When McMurphy arrives the ward and act with him like he does with everybody else, Bromden became to gain more self- confidence and became to feel much better. McMurphy has very much influence on Bromden. I see that for first when he raise his hand when McMurphy, was trying to make the patients choice for world series, he doesn´t want to see thim game and he didn´t know why he raise his hand, he feel like McMurphy has some kind of hex on him.Shortly after he riley wants to speak with McMurphy and finally he did. After that he begin to feel much more better and became bigger. He for example talk about his childhood with McMurphy. His fog clear and he deal with the outside world for the first time in a long time. McMurphy has a lot of effect on him, he became another man. In the end if the novel, he uses his strongness and break out of the insitition and save McMurphy from being vegetable all his life, he suffocates him after McMurphy was lobotomized. The changes on Bromden was just because McMurphy makes him feel like he was important, he build his self confidence by telling him how big and tough he was and also tell him how big his penis was. He also talk with him like he was normal and thats was very importamant for Bromden.
The Essay on Mcmurphy a christ figure
Bromden and McMurphy are led to the electroshock room after they stood up for George, a fellow ward inhabitant, and assaulted the employees. As they anticipate the electroshock therapy, Bromden is nervous and afraid. However, McMurphy strangely expresses optimism despite the grave situation. The passage in which McMurphy gets prepared for the treatment clearly alludes to a martyr, specifically ...
6.There is many religious image in the book. Primarily is ofcourse McMurphy some kind of christ figure in the novel. It first appers whrn the go to the fish tripping and McMurphy has 12 followers like Jesus has 12 disciplers, The followers was 10 of the patients and Candy and Spivey but they are alson learning of McMurphy. In the Fish tripping Ellis take Billy hand and said „be a fisher man“ Jesus said this sentence with Peter apostle. They also go to fishing which is christian religious symbol. When McMurphy goes to Est it is religious in many cases, EST is cross form like Jesus was crucifixation on cross, it was anointing in EST and Jesus crucifixation, the anointing let this be better, McMurphy was given rubber hose to bite like Jesus was given a sponge to soaked in vinegar to suck on and McMurphy also ask if he get crown of thorns. Up in disturbed ward he also meet patient who said to him „i wash my hand of the whole deal“ this remind us of Pontius Pilate who wash his hand of christ crucifixion. The party is the last time McMurphy and the patients has fun together, like when Jesus and his disciples eat the last meal together. McMurphy die so the others can live like Jesus did, he makes sacrifice like Jesus did, he sets the other free and give them hope he was savior. McMurphy is also rebel in this novel like Jesus was rebel at his time. McMurphy death is a gift like Jesus death was a gift. Jesus taught his disciples a lot and McMurphy also taught his disciplers a lot.

9. I see the ending like defeat for Ratched even though McMurphy die, because the other patiens has already learn a lot from him.
