If you eating Italian cuisine food, then you are probably eating a food with oregano in it. In most Italian cooking, oregano is found. Oregano is one of the most potent culinary herbs out on the market today. A spice that is very strong and very commonly used is Coriander. Coriander can be used in many ways such as in pastries meats and curries.
Oregano contains minerals like copper, niacin, and beta-carotene, as well as other nutrients. According to USDA, the herb with highest antioxidant content is oregano; it has more antioxidant activity than any other herbs studied. Oregano as well as many other herbs including basil and rosemary contains rosmarinic acid. Oregano is also known to be rich in antibacterial properties, especially in its oil. Oregano has also been used as a sort of home remedy used to help get rid of rashes and it can also help fight strep throat. Also another thing the oil of oregano can do is stop the growth of harmful bacteria such as E. coli and salmonella. Some restaurants put drops of Oregano Oil in salad bars to protect them from dangerous bacteria settling into the food.
Coriander is probably one of the first spices used by man, having been known as early as 5000 BC.The Romans were one of the first people to spread it throughout Europe and it was one of the first spices to arrive in America. In Ayurvedic medicine, coriander is used as a digestive aid; in Chinese medicine, the whole herb is used to treat such conditions as nausea, toothache, hernias, measles, dysentery and piles.” Coriander has sometimes been confused with cilantro. It is mainly used for sweet pastries. Also it can be added to stews and marinades to give it a Mediterranean taste.

As anyone can see both oregano and Coriander are very common in a lot of foods as well as they can both be used for medicinal properties. Without this herb and spice we probably wouldn’t have as great of a tasting food. Also with out these herbs we might not have certain medicines that may have been created from studying oregano.
