His father William Wilde was an eye and ear doctor he was said to have pioneered the industry (Internet source).

He was a very well learned and well-spoken man who fit right into Dublin’s high society. His mother, Lady Jane Francesca Wilde was a smart, witty, and sophisticated women who was the perfect counterpart to William Wilde. She was a poet who was very active in the fight for Irish independence and also woman’s liberation (Internet source).
Oscar had a two-year-older brother Willie Wilde. They lived in Dublin where his father had his practice. After Oscars birth the family moved to a large house in Dublin. Two years after Oscar was born his mother gave birth to a daughter, her name was is sola. With the birth of is sola Oscar was ignored and all of his mothers affection was given to her, this is why her death was so tragic. She died from an illness at age ten; her death deeply affected Oscar (Oscar Wilde pg 10-12).
When Oscar was ten and his brother twelve they where sent to the port ora royal school. At school Oscar was a quiet child who disliked math and sciences but excelled in writing and literature. He didn’t get on well with the other students and would rather admire a sunset than play sports. In 1871 Oscar won a scholarship to Trinity College in Dublin.

In 1874 he received yet another scholarship to oxford. At oxford Oscar furthered his learning and came to discover himself as a writer. This is also the time when he found that he was a homosexual. Wilde wrote some very good poems at oxford but nothing that would make him famous. He won an award for his poem “Ravenna” just before he left oxford (Internet source).
Around this time Wilde’s father died leaving his family with little money. His mother moved to London and opened a solon and Oscar went on a tour of northern Italy. He spent his time admiring the sites and writing. Some of his first great poems came from this trip including, graffiti d’Italia, san and lago maggiore. When he got back he went back to oxford only to leave again in 1877 to go on a tour of Greece.
Around this time he started seriously writing and had several poems published (The Wilde album).
In 1882 Wilde went on tour in America giving lectures. He was mostly driven to do this by his lack of funds. These lectures bro.
