The Inaugural Cricket World Cup was held in 1975 hosted by England. The 1979 World Cup witnessed the introduction of the ICC competition to select non-test playing teams for the World Cup. Subsequently the World Cups were hosted by different countries in 1983 1987 1992 1996 1999 2003 2007 and 10th Cricket World Cup was hosted by Srilanka Bangladesh and India.

Following fourteen teams participated in the Cricket World Cup 2011 in two groups:

In the current event. 14 teams were allocated within each group. The teams played in a round-robin format. The top four teams from each group processed the knock out stage playing quarter finals.

Biggest match of the world cup 2011 were played between Pakistan vs India, when both team play first time world cup semi-final. Pakistan lost that match, because of slow batting and also drop five catches.

In world cup 2011, team India and England were great upset by Ireland.
III) Knockout Stages:-
* Quarter final:-
In the First Quarter Final Srilanka and Newzealand were face to face. Srilanka on this match and qualified for the Semi-final. In the second Quarter=Final Pakistan became the winner qualifying for the Semi-Final Third and fourth Quarter Finals were played between Australia V/S India and England V/S South Africa. After sensational fight Pakistan and England qualified for the Semi-Final.

* Semi final:-
The first Semi-Final was won by Srilanka from England and in the second Semi-Final India won. The game because of slow batting on Pakistan side and dropout of to five catches.
* Final:-
Srilanka and India played the final under great stress and pressure. The batting line of India proved disastrous for Srilanka team and the Indian team really did great job with remarkable strategy and achieved the status of Cricket World Champion for next four years till 2015.
IV) Corruption in Cricket:
It is really setback for the viewers of cricket that not only the players but bookies played a vital role in making corruption in cricket in the shape of match-fixing. Some doubts have arisen but yet have to wait for any solid proofs in this regard. It is suggested that the players must be trained enthusiastically and honesty. Dignity and purity must be maintained in cricket and strict eye be kept on bookies.
V) Conclusion:
It is praise-worthy that Quarter Semi-Finals and Final were played with peace and tranquility. The Governments of three host countries I.C India Srilanka and Bangladesh did really very well and made the best arrangements for this Cricket World Cup 2011.
