In April of 2013, I was traveling along with my mom to Orlando, Florida. It was my very first time going to Orlando, so I was clearly ecstatic. The main reason we were going was because my cousin who is currently a News Reporter was relocated from Memphis, Tennessee to Orlando as of receiving a promotion. So at that time, she had recently moved there and was officially settled in her new place.
At that time I was not done with the semester yet since it was during April, but I was deeply aware that I was going to miss only a couple days of classes. I was only going for about less than a week, so it didn’t stop me from going. I wanted to experience the warm, sunny Florida type of weather that I usually didn’t get from Chicago. I had hoped to see various palm trees, go to 1 or 2 popular theme parks that Orlando was known for, and possibly go to some fancy restaurants and try new dishes. Those were the main reasons I was eager to go there.
When it was time to finally leave, I was not going to miss Chicago and its bipolar weather whatsoever … Then when finally arriving to Florida, it was about 88 degrees and humid. My cousin, Jackie showed us around the city, talked about various restaurants we were planning in going, theme parks, and finally showed us her condo that was located right in the center in downtown. I had fallen in love with every palm tree we passed by as well. I met her grumpy cat that wasn’t social with anyone, but that was its personality.
The next 2 days I spent the majority of my time tanning and working out at her gym. I was thinking “THIS IS THE LIFE.” I wouldn’t want to return to Chicago anytime soon. Then we dedicated a day for going to the theme parks. I was in major shock when she told us right before going that we were going to Magic Kingdom.
