What Are My Personal Goals? We all have goals in life. Personal goals are an important, ever changing first step in planning our future. These goals will change many times through out our lives. Currently, my career goals are most important. In three to five years, my family goals may be most important. Until this assignment, I never thought out and wrote down my aspirations.
When beginning to write this essay, I had no idea where to begin. I thought, how can I clearly define my goals when I do not even know what they are? Writing them down was the first step. Once I started writing them down, the floodgates opened and before I knew it, I had seven categories of goals. Before I could begin to accomplish any of my goals, I had to first figure out what types of goals I have and write them down. Once my goals were down on paper, it was easy to prioritize them and actually realize they are possible to attain. After prioritizing my goals, I got a bit more specific, and put a timeframe on each of them.
Now that I have written down my goals, prioritized, and put a timeframe on them, I can work on completing them. What are my personal goals? Currently, my career, education and financial goals are most important, in that order. These three goals are each components of each other. A short-term career goal of mine is to start making ten cold calls a day. By achieving this goal, I can get closer to making two appointments per week, land a $20, 000 a month audio customer within the next two months, and be the number one ranking salesperson in the organization for rest of year. These short-term goals lead to my yearly goal of exceeding my quota by 30%.
Personal Career Development Plan
My nursing career started as a dream, a dream I needed to fulfill as my destiny. A childhood dream never diminishes no matter the time that may pass. My story isn’t one of great inspiration but means a great deal to me. I received an Associate degree in nursing May, 2004. That was a goal that I worked for while caring for a family with three small children. It wasn’t easy but something worth ...
Opening a satellite office of V-SPAN or obtaining a job closer to home are both goals I have set to attain within the next two years. Another two-year goal is to manage a sales team. Within the next five years, I plan to own my own business, perhaps a spa or a clothing boutique, and would like to retire by the time I am 40. This is where my educational goals come to play. Short-term, completing the Tony Robbins tapes I bought two years ago that are collecting dust in my garage is a priority. I can easily achieve this goal by keeping them in my car and listening to them on my way to work and back.
Next on the list is to learn time management and organizational skills, which I will learn in the next few weeks during this course. Learning these two skills will come in handy when completing my Bachelor’s Degree within the next 24 months and my Master’s within the next four years. How do I plan to afford all of this? By obtaining my financial goal of exceeding my monthly quota by 30% and increase my yearly earnings by 30%. All of my financial goals will have nothing to show for unless I learn how to save my earnings and be a bit more responsible in my spending habits, which I am sure will be the toughest of all. Physical and spiritual goals are extremely important to me at this point in life as well.
In the past few years, I have lost my way a bit and have fallen out of physical and mental shape. Starting a workout regimen of Yoga will help in both aspects. Once I condition my body and mind in yoga, I can start working on my attitudes in life and become more considerate of others’ needs as well as more down to earth and less self-centered. Family is a major part and priority in my life. Recently I have lost both of my Grandfathers and have made it a goal of mine to spend more time with both of my Grandmothers and give them the support they so rightfully deserve. Accomplishing this goal will also help with my spiritual goals.
