The ideas that form the basis of the American governmental tradition have come from a number of different sources including Voltaire, John Locke, John Locke, was from England. This idea of the Social Contract is explained in the Declaration of Independence ( The document, written by Thomas Jefferson in 1776, in which the delegates of the Continental Congress declared the Colonies independence from Britain ), and it was adapted into the political structure. It says that It is there right, it is there duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. This supports the idea of John Lockes theory of Power comes from the people. That if the law is bad or disobeyed the people have the right to change it. He also supported the idea of Right to Revolution, where the government is changed if its not doing the job. This can also be found and supported in the Declaration of Independence.

Voltaire has his own ideas that help with the U.S. He is from France, and he believes and supports Religious Freedom. This is stated in the Bill of Rights. It is stated in the first Amendment of the Bill of Rights that people have the right to Religious Freedom with some exceptions.
This goes to show that Voltaire and his ideas of religion are adapted into the U.S. As for Locke, Voltaire has the same ideas of Natural Rights, as it states in the Bill of Rights that people have the right to life, liberty and property. This makes Voltaire as well as John Locke a great contributor to the U.S. through the ideas of Natural Rights. Voltaire also supports the idea of Against Government, which is the invasion of individual rights. Like Religious Freedom and the idea of Natural Rights the idea of Against Government can also be found in the Bill of rights.
Amendment 9 says that, The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people. Or otherwise said that people have the right to privacy. Voltaires ideas of Religious Freedom, Natural Rights and of the idea of Against Government are adapted into the U.S. political structure through the Bill of Rights. Another French men is Montesquieu. He believed government should have limits.
This is mentioned in the Constitution through the system of Checks and Balances. This system prevents any one branch from dominating the other two. This shows that the government has limits and that there are procedures that help organize the government. Montesquieu has the ideas of Government powers should be Separate. Which is explained in the Constitution, it says that the government powers should be separate so there are no arguments, this is why they have the three branches of government. The Three Branches of government, Executive, Legislative, and Judicial, are also one of the ideas that Montesquieu supported. The three branches can be found in the Constitution. The Legislative branch or congress, the executive branch talks about the presidency, and the Judiciary branch talks about the federal courts and judges.
