Alcohol is a drug and people use it in different ways. people drink anywhere from moderately to habitually. When classifying drinkers how would you go about it? Is it in their style, how much they drink in an allotted period of time or is it the level of conversations that they use while drinking? I use all three. Regardless of the fact, I have noticed that even within a particular group of drinkers that their personalities are quite different. To me, drinkers fall into one of the three following categories: the bonsai drinkers, the weekend warriors or meet the people drinkers.
Drinking to some people is like brushing your teeth. Most people brush multiple times a day. Could you imagine having your toothbrush in your mouth all day every day, day in and day out? Well this is how my first group of people drink alcohol. It appears to me as if the bonsai drinkers can’t even start their day unless they have a drink of some sort, whether it is a beer or a shot of tequila. They will drink anywhere there is alcohol, whether it is at their house or even while driving. Nonetheless, bonsai drinkers are a risk to themselves as well as many others that they may come in contact with, while drinking. I have noticed a couple reasons why people start to drink this way. First, the already depressed individual may have lost a loved one, the only thing keeping him/her together emotionally. In this case, drinking excessively would result in a temporary block of emotions related to their tragic experience. They feel if they’re drunk all day, they will never have to face the facts of reality. Secondly it could be because a husband or wife had lost a job that they relied on to support their family, here they feel as if they are a failure not only to themselves, but the rest of their family. Bonsai drinking can lead to worse circumstances than the reason they started drinking for. It can lead to the break up of their family or even worse, the individual can become so depressed they might even take their own life to escape their pain.
Binge Drink Drinking Students Problems
Binge Drinking Among College Students We all know what it is like to wake up in the morning, with our head aching, and our body feeling like it was just hit by a train. College students world wide know this feeling. These are the results of binge drinking. The question of why college students continue to submit themselves to alcohol is unknown. While many reasons are given, the cause generally ...
When speaking of an on the verge alcoholic or what I like to refer to as the weekend warrior they share a similarity with the way a bonsai drinker drinks. Weekend warriors like the name states, is that the only time they have a chance to drink is on the weekends. Reason being is that they have too many work or school priorities to fill during the week. This in some cases causes a deprivation of alcohol. The weekend is their time to relax, and what better way to relax than getting to the point where they are smashed, faded, loopy, swerve walking, curb tripping, out-of-control, can’t remember anything the next morning (or to the point of blackout) drunk. Like a bonsai drinker, weekend warriors don’t care where they drink, but usually end up at house parties or their local pub. They appear as the rowdy, fast-paced, get faded stay faded, body aching the next morning because of a hang over type drinker. In the weekend warrior personality, I have found that drinking gives them a temporarily uplifted sense of self-confidence or what I like to call liquid courage. In men, they use this courage to pick up on females hoping to make their night more exciting.
As for myself I feel that I would fit in with this next group, meet the people drinkers. Meet the people drinkers are associated with responsibility, common sense, and intellectual conversations unlike weekend warriors and bonsai drinkers. They are not ones that drink to get drunk whenever they get a chance. Even when they do drink alcohol, it doesn’t mean that they have to get a buzz let alone drunk. Meet the people drinkers don’t have a routine; the days of the week and where they choose to drink usually differ from time to time. The place of consumption may be at a restaurant, a friends’ house or their own home with some company. Their choice of alcohol would probably consist of a glass of wine, a mixed drink or even a beer. They are graceful, paced, considerate of others type drinkers. These drinkers don’t seem to face many problems caused by drinking and usually doesn’t affect their everyday life.
The Essay on Warriors Don’t Cry
Throughout her autobiography I discovered many new themes one such as never give up. The theme, never give up shows up many times through Melba’s actions in school and outside of school Melba wanted to give up many times but she, kept her word by praying to God and talking to her grandma. Whenever students beat up Melba, she would say I am never going to that school but the next day she would get ...
To conclude, when a person has their first drink I don’t think that they have it knowing or wanting to be a bonsai drinker someday. Alcohol is like the seed of a plant but of a habit instead, if you water it, it will grow, water it enough and it takes control. If you don’t water it, it will die, just like a plant would without water. People start drinking for numerous different reasons any where from stress to for the fun of it. What category of drinker do you fall into?
