Drop Zone:
Drop zone is 224 feet high. The ride takes a total of three seconds to fall. Assuming that the ride is in total free fall, the ride is accelerating the most at the point right before it begins to slow down or decelerate. Its greatest speed is 62 mph and the point of the ride’s greatest instantaneous speed is right before it begins to slow down. The calculated instantaneous speed just before it stops is 62 miles per hour. If you were to put a penny on your lap before the ride dropped, in addition to being kicked out of the park, in reality the coin would fall slower than you because you are being pulled down by the ride and the coin experiences air resistance on its way down. If the coin was in total free fall as well as the ride, then both would fall at the exact same rate of speed.
Bumper Cars:
The usage of safety belts on bumper cars is of the utmost importance. A person in a bumper car that is hit by another bumper car needs the safety belt to restrain themselves from flying out of their car from their own inertia due to their body mass and momentum. Inertia is resistance to a change in the state of motion and is caused due to the amount of matter in a material or person. A person s mass has a lot to do with their inertia because the amount of inertia depends on the person’s mass so therefore, the more mass a person has, the more inertia they retain. Momentum will cause a person without a seatbelt on to fly out of their bumper car. Momentum is the product of a person’s mass times the speed at which they are going at. If a heavy person was in a bumper car traveling at high speed and came in contact with a stationery bumper car that person would have a greater momentum than a lighter person traveling at a slower speed.
Independent Spirit Essay Person Care Dependent
There can be a difference between a dependent and independent spirits. Independent spirits can be found in everyone and how your independent spirit can help others. A person with an independent spirit can take care of him or herself. Being a person with an independent spirit can be good: set your own rules and regulations, do jobs and chores whenever you want to, and do whatever you feel like ...
Carousel:
A person riding on the carousel at the very outer edge rides at a faster linear speed than a person who is riding toward the center of the carousel. The difference in speed is a linear difference meaning that the distance of the path the rider on the outside of the carousel travels is greater than the path on the rider on the inside. Even though the two people have the exact same rotational speed, they both complete the same amount of rotation per revolution per unit of time, their linear speed is different.
Quarter Toss:
In this game the participant is trying to throw a quarter onto a flat piece of glass and ultimately trying to keep the coin from falling off of the surface. This game is difficult to win because of the physics involved in the game. First of all, when you throw the quarter it has inertia and it wants to resist a change in its state of motion. In other words, it doesn’t want to stop when it hits the glass plate. Also, as most people know, glass usually does not have a rough surface. In this way there is hardly any friction between the quarter and the glass plate and so the quarter hardly ever has a chance to slow down and stay on the plate. A possible way to overcome these two obstacles is to throw the quarter up in the air with as little forward momentum as possible. This will help the quarter to hit the glass plate and possible bounce and stay on the plate. I didn’t want to waste my money on this game so I didn’t actually try it. As you can observe I stated that I didn’t waste my money on this game. =)
The Essay on Speed Limits People Car Limit
The speed limit was put put for a reason and all of these people. People who are breaking the speed limit should be sent to jail for endangering other peoples lives. The speed limit is regular 55 on country roads or like in town the speed limit is lowered to as low as 15. But for the people who want to drive fast and endanger other people lives should to a race track or to the auto-bu an. There is ...
TOP GUN:
My favorite roller coaster is Top Gun. While on this ride you are on an inverted steel roller coaster with floor-less coaches suspended below the track. The ride takes a total of 2 minutes and 26 seconds and the track is 2,260 feet long. The highest point on Top Gun is 100 feet high. In this ride you are pushed into your seat the most whenever the ride does a loop, corkscrew, or roundabout over the water. This sensation is due to your own inertia. It is easy for roller coasters to safely do loops because they have two sets of wheels, one on top of the other, with a bar holding them in place between the two wheels. Also, the passengers are able to stay safely in their seats due to the safety restraints as well as the ride’s centrifugal force on your body. I think that the longest wait is usually for the very front car, but the second-longest wait is for the very back car because people either want to be at the front of the roller coaster and be pushed down through the ride or they would rather be at the very back and be whipped around every turn like the end of a whip. I guess more people enjoy sitting in the front because they are able to see the ride as they go through it rather than looking at the back of someone else. For myself though, I would prefer to ride at the very back because it feels faster.
CENTRIFUGE:
As the ride begins the platform underneath you begins to rotate. Then as the ride begins to gain speed the axis that your car is on begins to spin. When your car is closer to the platform’s axis you seem to be and are traveling at a slower linear speed, then as your car travels to the outside of the platform, you have a greater linear speed and you feel as though you are being pulled to the outside of your car. Centripetal force can be used to simulate gravity on a large scale by the use of a rotational space colony. A structure 2 kilometers in diameter would rotate at 1 revolution per minute to simulate gravity.
WHITE WATER FALLS:
This is ride to go on if you enjoy getting wet. You are seated in a large boat that can seat about 35 people. The boat travels up a steep incline and then falls down another steep incline into a pool of water. The inertia caused by the boat’s mass and momentum causes a big splash of water to get all over everyone in the boat. If you really want to get wet, just go to the bridge directly over the boat’s splash zone and stand at the far corners. In this way the water is splashed away from the boat and directly onto you, sometimes even innocent bystanders.
The Essay on The Car Wash
Though it may sound really simple to wash an automobile, just spraying the car with water, then soaping it, and then drying it will not fully complete the washing process. There is a simple yet easy process to washing your automobile correctly and also precautions to be aware of as you are doing so. There are about ten steps to follow. Following these steps will make your car washing experience a ...
ORLEANS ORBIT/THE BERZERKER:
In both of these rides, centrifugal force is used to keep passengers in their seats to prevent them from falling onto the ground. In Orleans Orbit, you are secured in a cage on a kind of round wheel. In the duration of the ride the wheel becomes totally vertical and no one falls out of the ride. On the Berzerker, passengers are fastened with safety belts to their seats. During this ride, at first the cars are upright, but as the ride gains speed, the cars become sideways and still no one falls out. Both of these rides previously discussed utilize centrifugal force to prevent their riders from falling out.
CONCLUSION:
In conclusion I think that this was the best lab of the whole entire year. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the lab at The Exploratorium due to uncontrollable circumstances so I really don t have another reference point to compare it to except other class work labs. Before this lab I had never really taken the time to think about all the physics involved at a place such as Great America. I was glad that I was able to participate and the next time that I go I will probably explain all the physics involved to my friends.
