The way humans act and the way humans are have to do with different aspects of their life which they were brought up to. The same has to do with political socialization. Political socialization is a process in which an individual forms the ideas about politics and attains political values. These values and attitudes are mostly acquired and developed in childhood, but the process is lifelong. (Shively) Throughout life, individuals attain these political morals and ideas through the way they were brought up such as influences through family, peers, education, religion, media, where you come from, and sometimes even unions. Family, in my opinion, is a big factor that influences an individual’s political views, but there are cases in which an individual can disagree with everything their family has to say politically. Why, is the question? One main idea that can cause differences in ones political views in comparison with one’s family is how close they are with their family. Relationships with families has a lot to do with political views and morals because most times they are the people who raise one and help one develop as a person.
If one has a strained relationship with their family or is not emotionally close with them, it is easier to become influenced by other agents of socialization. If an individual’s family is not there to put these values in one’s mindset then they must acquire political ideas from another source, just like developing character. For some people however, that is not the case. One can have a close relationship with families, but still disagree on political views. This can be also due to where you are from and where you are brought up. Personally I am extremely close to my family, but at times clash when it comes to politics. My dad is a firm believer in a patriarchal society and I strongly oppose. As an immigrant from Guatemala, living there his whole life he was raised in a patriarchal home and learned that that lifestyle was right and superior. He believes in a double standard and that women and men have a certain and specific role in society. I disagree with him completely and believe that everyone has an equal opportunity to be what they want to be and what they want to do.

This is because of the fact of how Americanized I am; I was born here and taught in school that we are all equal and in our culture there “should” be no double standard. Although my family and I including my dad continue to have a strong relationship, our political views can differ because of where we were brought up at a young age and our different cultures in which we were raised in. Many people can relate, but still there are other factors that can come into play. Another aspect that contributes to political views is religion. It is not common, but in few instances some individuals share different religious beliefs than their family. And although in America there is a division between church and state, many of the ideas brought up in politics clash with some individual’s religious beliefs and different morals. If one has different religious beliefs than their family then it is most likely that they also have different political views even if it is only certain issues. Religion has always caused conflict not only in politics, but also in families and is a reason why someone might have different political beliefs as their family members. In correlation to how one was brought up, media can play a big role in one’s politic preference. Technology had expanded throughout the years which have allowed more information to become released.

Being young and an adolescent one is still open-minded and easily influenced by what they see and hear, and the media is gifted for being so persuasive. Unlike the young mind, parents or other older family members who did not grow up in the years of technology already have their political views set and are more close-minded. Adolescents have more time to learn about new ideas because their mind is still young and they are not always as sure about what they truly believe because of the new things they hear and see. Media and technology really can be a vital source as to why an individual can disagree politically with their family and their beliefs. Education is a prime key when dealing with politics. Other than family, education is an influential and vital part of politics because many argue that in order to be fully aware of what is going on in society, one must first be correctly educated politically. To graduate from high school, a student is required to take a government and economics course, which is “supposed” to educate one on how the government and the economy is run. Some people are more educated than others in regards to politics due to their interest and the way they engage in the curriculum.
It is normal in families to have acquired a different form or amount of education which causes contrast in political views. One may or may not be as educated as their child or even parent and can cause different points of views in politics. When one has more knowledge, one can think differently and acquire their own set of ideas rather than the ideas from their parents. For example, learning about politics in Russia and China has given me more knowledge which has led to new ways of thinking and using them to develop my own ideas and beliefs about politics in the United States. Education reacts differently to everyone’s mind which is why it can cause a great difference in political views within families. Similar to that of the different cultures in which one was brought up, an individual can also have different views as their families because of age gaps. A lot of different factors can contribute in time. Age gaps have the same effect as technology and media, education, and culture all in one. If one is eighteen years old and has parents in their sixties, there is a significant amount of age between the two. Between that time many things have changed.
The Essay on Education was only for young people
In the past people thought that education was only for young people. Now, it is believed that education is for a person’s whole life. Do you agree? State with you own experience and specific details. Education is not the same and new things are being taught which leads to more knowledge. The technology age is rising, causing the media to become a greater influence to young minds. Every decade is a different culture, and chances are if one and one’s parent are forty years apart it is likely that the culture they were raised in is completely different. Whether it be age, where one is brought up, religion, education, or relationships, it truly is the mind that controls what you believe. Yes, all these factors help shape the mind and bring knowledge to the mind, but it is the person itself who has ultimate control. At a young age the mind is still developing and although families can and do contribute to an individual’s beliefs, it is ultimately different for everyone. No one is in the exact same situation as anyone else because everyone’s mind is different. Different influences make up who one is and what one believes. Some factors influence one more than another, but ultimately it is one’s choice in what they want to believe in. In America, every one person is in title to their own ideas, their own beliefs, and ultimately what they political value.
