Pollution is the very serious problem in our country. All – important cities as Delhi, Mumbai , Calcutta and Chennai have been found to be most polluted cities in India. The smaller industrial towns, such as Kanpur , are also heavily polluted leading to sever health problems. Two major areas of pollution are air and water. Those living in cities neither get pure to breathe nor pure water to drink. It is therefore not surprising that the major health problems occur in the cities. In order to rectify this situation, it is important to identify the sources of pollution.
The major source of air pollution in the cities is the heavy traffic on the roads. All the vehicles emit carbon mono-oxide, which invades our lungs. Often this vehicles are not properly maintained so that dense black smoke is emitted. In fact sometimes it becomes difficult to breathe because one can feel the heavy air that one is inhaling.
Another source of air pollution is the smoke from the factories, especially in the Industrial areas. Once again, highly toxic fumes are emitted into the atmosphere and make life miserable for those around.
The Essay on Athens Pollution City Air
When Athens became the capital of the new kingdom of Greece in 1833, it was a small town of Turkish-style houses clustered at the foot of the Acropolis. Beginning in the 1950? s, much of old Athens was demolished to make room for modern buildings. The movement of large numbers of people into the capital from rural areas has caused congestion. This large mass of people as well as the geographical ...
One important reason that the environment remains polluted is the absence of plants and trees. Cutting down trees everywhere and construction of buildings instead, has created a major problem; for trees breathe in carbon-di-oxide and release oxygen into the atmosphere so that the atmosphere is automatically purified. However, blind deforestation everywhere has resulted in very few patches in green in the cities and consequently we suffer the ill- health of atmospheric pollution.
Water is another essential necessity, which again, we get in a highly polluted form effluents from industries are thrown into the nearby water body, whether be it a river or a lake, thus polluting the water. Apart from this, there is soil pollution. Many chemicals and pesticides are harmful for health. With the use of these things some vegetation have vanished from the earth and have became extinct. This soil pollution also contaminates the water bodies through the rain fall.
The effect of all this pollution of land, air, hazardous to all living beings, whether be it in a city or a village. Thus, the urgent need of the time is to have an effective check on the pollution problem in our country. The first step to check this pollution is that population growth should be checked. Natural resources should be redeveloped. afforestation should be done in an extensive manner. Every individual, government and private organizations should maintain their vehicles well, so that only the minimum amount of fumes is emitted.
