For example after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 has caused PTSD in some of the people that were involved in first response to the Twin Towers, people who saw the disaster occur, and even people who have lost relatives and friends in that tragic event. Some symptoms that occur are “reliving” the event, which would disturb your day to day life, avoidance such as feeling emotional numbness or feeling like you don’t care about anything anymore, arousal such as difficulty concentrating or you get startled easily. Post-traumatic Stress Disorder is just like having Hysteria.
Hysteria was what they told people who went through a traumatic event back in the days of the Vietnam War and World War 2 because back then there was no such thing as PTSD. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder can occur in anybody, women, children, men and it can occur at any age. According to the U. Children also are at risk of being diagnosed with PTSD.

Just think about it children are more susceptible to abuse than really anyone else, just imagine being five years old and hearing your parent’s argue so loud that it wakes you up out of your sleep, so you go down stairs and find that your father has been drinking and you see him beat your mother, and you try to go help but then he turns on you and starts beating you, so your mom tries to stop him and in the middle of her doing that your father turns around and stabs your mother. How do you think that would affect a five year old child for the rest of their lives.
That is the kind of things that cause children to have a lifelong prevalence of PTSD. According to the National Institute of Mental Health about 4% of children through ages thirteen through eighteen have a life prevalence of PTSD, while 1. 4% of thirteen through eighteen year olds have “severe” hypomania which is a mood state of characterized by persistent and pervasive elevated or irritable mood. Also the National Institute of Mental Health Shows that seventeen through eighteen year olds are 5. 8% more likely to have a lifelong prevalence than any age under seventeen.
