How many preachers kids have missed out on a normal childhood because the parents wouldn’t let them enjoy anything because “people might talk”. You can’t go to the movies, “it doesn’t look right”, “if people see you there then they won’t come to our church” etc. How many preachers daughters were made to wear dresses because “preachers kids don’t dress like the world”. How many preachers kids weren’t allowed to fall asleep in a late night service (never mind all the other kids were asleep) because “they were supposed to reverence God”? r what about the preachers kids that couldn’t play sports because mom and dad were ministering somewhere every single night and they had to be in church with their mom and dad otherwise people would say “they aren’t raising their children right, they tell us to make our kids go to church but theirs aren’t here”. ” (Preacher’s Kid).
But is it fair to be held up to standards that a child never asked for? I am all for raising children in the church. I believe when kids are brought up in the church, they have a stronger foundation in life. They are not easily influenced and they seem to always achieve more in life.
It is important to begin to have a relationship with God at an early age; that way, when you are older and are faced with obstacles you will know who to turn too, God. I also believe in letting a kid be a kid. It seems as if preacher kids are often robbed of their childhood. I don’t mean to let your child run loose, doing whatever he or she wants, but I think it’s ok to let he or she hang out with friends from time to time. Of course there is a lot of crime in this world and criminals, but trying to keep someone stuck in the house and away from that isn’t safe to me either.
The Essay on Church Of God Speaking In Tongues
Church Of God. ORIGIN Most of the Pentecostal churches which bear the name 'Church of God' can be traced to a holiness revival in the mountains of northwest Georgia and eastern Tennessee. In 1884, R. G. Spurling, a Baptist minister in Monroe County, Tennessee, began to search the Scriptures for answers to the problems of modernism, formality, and spiritual dryness. An initial meeting of concerned ...
I believe it is good to be exposed to the real world. It is perfectly ok interacting with people with different morals and personalities. My mom is a Christian woman. We were raised in the church. However, my mother allowed me to experience life. I made a lot of mistakes. I hung with the wrong crowd. I was engaged in sexual activity. I sinned tremendously. There was always something in me though, in my head telling me, “This is not right. I shouldn’t be doing this. ” I know that was the Lord talking to me. I know it was the spirit my mom instilled in me at an early age, trying to get me on the right track.
If it wasn’t for my mom dragging me to church and Sunday school, I wouldn’t have heard those voices. I graduated from high school. I went to college and graduated with an Associate’s degree. I had a baby. I enrolled back in school to pursue my Bachelor’s degree. I went back to work. I am now a mother, employed, and a full time student with my own car and apartment. My mom raised me in the church and she also let me lived, and I still turned out ok. I always believe that life is a lesson and it you are not living then you are not learning.
You will never fully understand not to do something unless you witness it or make the mistake yourself. If a preacher child is kept from the world, how will they really learn about life in depth? There is a movie called Preacher’s Kid 2010, starring Letoya Luckett, Tank, Gregory Allan Williams, and Tammy Townsend. In the movie, Letoya’s character Angie, is the beautiful daughter of a bishop. Her father the bishop was very controlling and wanted Angie to stay true to her religion. Bishop wanted Angie to stay in the church and remain holy for the rest of her life.
Angie had the talent of singing and she broadcasted her talent in the church. Angie had a growing desire in her to become famous for her singing. She met a guy, Devlin, who was lots of eye candy for her. Devlin was in the stage play industry; it was the perfect environment for Angie to sing her way to the top. She wanted the fame and she wanted Devlin. Angie went against her morals and most importantly her father and everything he stood for, the church. Angie thought the grass was greener on the other side and she quickly found out it wasn’t.
The Essay on Carolyn Life One Wanted
"Bite the bullet!" I've always hated this phrase. It refers to facing a tough situation and taking it on like a street-fighter. Sure, there are times when life requires a girl to pick herself up and get back in the ring after she's just been knocked down by a quick left jab. But I know my limits, and sometimes I'd like to say, "I'll sit this round out." Unfortunately for me, I have an aunt who ...
Angie found herself not playing the lead role of the play which meant she wasn’t allowed to do what she loved and that was sing. She entered a relationship with Devlin only to find herself lounging around with bruised lips and black eyes. Following behind Devlin and loosing herself, Angie even experimented with drugs to please him. Angie got everything she had asked for. Although Angie fell off track, her Christian spirit within her wouldn’t let her go too far astray. Angie old friends helped pulled her back to her old self again. She began to see that the grass isn’t greener on the other side and that she belongs in the church.
My point is that it is ok to finally let your child go as a pastor. I strongly believe that if you teach your children about religion early on, they will find their way back to that religious life if they go down the wrong path. Like I stated before, I agree with the standards preacher’s kids should live up to, to a certain point. However I don’t believe they should have their life sucked out of them because they are a preacher’s kid.
