Jehovah witnesses are Christians who believe that the bible is God’s word and that Jesus is their savior. They believe in one supreme God. By supreme God I mean a spirit that has a body, but not a human body. Jesus is believed to be the Lord and Savior, but like Christians believe that Jesus is a part of God, Jehovah witnesses do not. They also do not believe in the trinity (the father, son and Holy Spirit), in which the Catholics do believe in the trinity. Because Jehovah witnesses do not believe that Jesus is god, and since they do not worship false gods, they pray to god rather than Jesus. They also believe that all other religions are false. They believe that all governments will be destroyed, as a result they do not vote, or practice anything patriotic. They do not celebrate any holidays, or birthdays. They very rarely celebrate thanksgiving, because they believe that to be a Pagan holiday. (wisegeek, 2012).
They are often trying to get other people to join their religion. Constantly they are going door to door trying to get other people to join their religion.
They do get discriminated against, because they do not believe in war, therefore they refuse to fight in any war, but they do however engage in legal battles, battling out their right to worship. More than 29 countries have banned them as a threat to public order. An example of them getting discriminated against is, in India a mob attacked Jehovah witnesses in door-to-door ministry in 9 documented cases in 2006. When the law got involved they did not prosecute the mob, instead they prosecuted the Jehovah Witnesses for inciting the violence. (Knocking.org, May 2012).
The Essay on Jehovah’s Witnesses
They do this because they consider it an honor to spread the word of god. Their religious practices are generally similar to others they worship God, pray to him, and think that all things good come from him. Jehovah’s Witnesses believe God can not lie therefore what the bible says will come true and earth will someday be cleansed of all the “wickedness”. In addition, most religions do some kind ...
They do however contribute to American Culture, for example when Hurricane Katrina hit back in 2006, thousands of Jehovah Witnesses donated their time and construction building efforts to the massive rebuilding effort (Jehovah Witness official media website, 2009).
The source of this prosecution is due to their beliefs. They are constantly getting prosecuted against for their beliefs in god. I have done a lot of research on this group, and now that I have done this research although I do not agree with it, I do understand it more now than I did before.
Racial/Ethnic Group
Latino/Hispanics are made up of several different cultures. They are a person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin. (national atlas.gov, Jan 2013 ) Hispanics/Latinos are different, because they come from a different culture. They have different skin color. While many of them speak Spanish, some of them speak English. Their culture is totally different from others because in the Hispanic/Latino culture they give a gentle handshake, rather than a solid handshake. The Hispanic/Latino group is very family oriented. They believe family comes first. The Hispanic/Latino group has done well with the American culture, although they still do get discriminated against. They do a lot of the farm work, are excellent workers for the farmers of America. They are discriminated against every day, by the whites because the white people think that Hispanic/Latino take up all the jobs here in America, leaving no jobs for the true Americans. I have done a lot of research as well on this race and I now know more about the Hispanic/Latino race and now have a lot more respect for them.
Conclusion
In conclusion the prejudice/discrimination between the Jehovah Witness and the Hispanic/Latino are the same due to the fact, they both are judged due to their race/religion. They both do good contributions for the Americans They both deserve a lot more respect than they really get. Who cares about what race they are or what religious belief they have. It is their choice. They are different due to the fact one is discriminated against due to their faith, and one is discriminated against due to their race. I have come to the conclusion that discrimination is wrong, and that it needs to be stopped.
The Term Paper on Comparison and Contrast of Hispanic Culture and Anglo-American Culture
There is no universal culture amongst the world society as each community embraces a unique culture that guides and defines their behavior.
