The name of my career is radiology diagnostic. The reason why I am studying this career is because it involves technology. The second reason why I am studying this career is because it is in the medical field and I want to be some sort of doctor. My last reason for studying this career is because of the salary. There where three pioneers in the United States, John Wild a surgeon, George Ludwig an internist, and Douglas Howry a radiologist. Douglas Howry had the greatest influence on the other pioneers in radiology. In the late 1940’s he left a formal residency program at Denver Veterans Administration Hospital to devote most of his time on ultrasound research.
Working in his basement with engineers William Roderick Bliss and George Pasokony, Howry pursued his goal of using ultrasound to produce accurate anatomic pictures of soft-tissue structures. There are 68 percent of males that are radiologist and 32 percent females that are radiologist. The employment trend for the career of radiology has been increasing and decreasing over the past years. Jobs that are related to this career is the medical field because radiology is in the medical field. You can find jobs online because most hospitals are advertising online.
As a radiologist, the general duties includes x-rays, computer tomography (CT) scans, mammograms, ultrasounds and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. A radiologist might operate the machinery used to collect these images, though this task is often delegated to radiology technologists. Radiologists also occasionally monitor imaging sessions run by radiologist technologists and technicians. The specific duty of a radiologist is to diagnose an treatment of diseases and injuries using imaging. A radiologist work 8 to 10 hours a day and 40 to 50 hours a week and a radiologist work five days a week. If you don’t go to medical school you won’t be able to be a radiologist. The health of a radiologist does not matter if you are fat or skinny. The personality you would need to have to become a radiologist is a responsible person with a mature and caring nature. The aptitude to become a radiologist is to be very smart and patient. A radiologist needs to do 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school, 4-5 years of residency, and 1 year of fellowship. There is only one way of entry to become a radiologist because if you don’t go to college and then complete medical school and do residency, you can not become a radiologist.
The high school courses I can take are English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Latin, Calculus to prepare me to become a radiologist. The college courses I must take are two years each of biology, chemistry, physics and calculus. The post-secondary school I have to take is medical school. The length of training is four years and it cost of training is 42,101 full time. You can go to the army force for training that relate to radiology but first you have to take a test to see if you are suited for the occupation.
The scholarship you can apply for is Merit medical school scholarships, armed force scholarships and the loan you can use is student loan to help pay for the cost of training. The additional training is residency but its pays you money and it don’t cost to go there. The jobs that are similar to my career are radiographic technicians, radiation therapy specialists, ultrasound and sonogram specialists, radiologist oncologists, interventional radiologist, radiologist technician , and radiologist nurse. All of those jobs involve some sort of radiology.
