Rasputin There are few popular theories about the role of Gregory Rasputin in history of Russia. One of them favors a so-called historical approach, when importance of single person is generally overlooked. The other one suggests that individuals are the ones that direct history. From this perspective, the rapid decline of Russian Empire prior to the outbreak of First World War appears to be dialectically motivated, given the influence that this person used to exercise. Who was Rasputin, a prophet or a madman? We wont be able to answer this question without understanding the essence of Orthodox Religion, as branch of Christianity, which stands closest to the origins of this religion. Let us not forget that up to this day, Bible is the most read book in mental institutions Christianity has emerged as religion of those tired of life, impotents and mentally retarded people.
If we take this approach, everything will begin to make sense. Rasputin was nothing but a Russian Jesus uneducated, yet charismatic leader, who was able to keep crowds captivated with his illogical nonsense, because his craziness was thought of as some kind of divine revelation, on his part. Grygory Rasputin was born from 1863 to 1872 in Pokrovskoe village, in Siberia. Those who knew him when he was young, described young Gregory as dreamy youth, without particular interest towards getting an education. As a matter of fact, even back than he was showing all the traits of mental patient he used to cry without reason and to take solitary walks, without coming back home for days. But what really differentiated him from others is that he used to philosophize about God a lot. In 1892 he was being accused of theft.

This year also marks the time when Rasputin began his rootless existence, traveling from village to village, while living on charity. He ventured as far as Greece, where he had talks with the elders of mount Afon. According to him, he had a religious revelation of some sort, while here. From that time on, he will be telling people of his mission to bring the true message of Christ to the sinners. In 1906, while being in Sankt-Petersburg, Rasputin was introduced to Russian Czar Nicholas the Second – very weak and easily influenced person. Apparently, it wasnt too hard for Rasputin to convince Czar that he really possessed a special powers.
Still, it wasnt before he met Czarina that he began to gain influence in the court. She was hysterical and deeply mystical woman. Her only son, prince Aleksei had hemophilia, so she carried a subconscious guilt complex and was willing to try just about anything, in order to help him. On October 5, 1907 princes health condition had worsened to the degree when everybody though that he was going to die. Czarina turned to Rasputin for help and his reply was do not let the doctors to use their wicked medicine on him. Apparently, Aleksei began to feel much better, after doctors were removed, just as Rasputin asked.
The same happened in 1912, when Rasputin miraculously healed prince again. Jenifer Rosenberg in her article The Murder of Rasputin rightly points out to the fact that there is still much uncertainty about whether he possessed a healing powers or not: Some people believe Rasputin used hypnotism; others say Rasputin didn’t know how to hypnotize. Part of Rasputin’s continued mystique is the remaining question as to whether or not he really had the powers he claimed to have (Rosenberg).
Rasputins healing tricks remind what Jesus used to do applying a mind control to highly agitated people, while chasing away demons At the same time, Gregory was the man of reason. His peasants logic did not allow him to see the slightest motivation for Russia to get involved in First World War. He had rightly predicted that entering war would inevitably result in collapse of Russian Empire. Rasputin tried to use his influence on Czar to make him to reconsider Russian foreign policy at the time. Instead of using Russian soldiers as cannon meat in the interests of England, Rasputin suggested that Russia would be much better off, while being allied with Germany. Nevertheless, Nicholas wasnt the right monarch for Russia, as he proceeded with his plans to enter war on the side of Antanta Besides being a deeply religious person, Rasputin is also known to participate in countless sexcapades.
The Term Paper on Russian Immigration Post World War II
Research as we have seen it tends to classify post-Soviet immigrants as being primarily Jewish immigrants. Most of these Jewish immigrants came to the United States in the late 1960’s. However, this paper will not focus on that aspect of Russian immigration. Instead, I will demonstrate that Russian speaking immigrants who arrived in the United States after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991 were ...
In fact, his name became a synonym of lust. Many women used to seek Rasputins spiritual guidance and he was able to provide it to them, in more senses than just one. The rumors of wild sex orgies with participation of Rasputin, began to circulate in Sankt-Petersburg. People also thought that there was a sexual affair between him and Czarina, as he used to brag about giving a spiritual counseling to her as well. People were beginning to wonder whether it was appropriate to have such a controversial person in the court, as Czars favorite. Yet, we can only say that it were just a city folk that hated him.
The majority of Russian peasants was on his side and used to strongly support Gregory. They thought of him as their representative, who spoke to Czar on their behalf. Rasputin is known of going as far as smashing table with his hand, during royal dinners, upon hearing something that he didnt like. Nevertheless, many Czars other friends decided to put an end to this unhealthy relation between Rasputin and the royal family. This could only be accomplished if Rasputin was killed. On December 17, 1916 Gregory was invited over to dinner at the palace of Felix Yusupov, who was planning to poison him there. Yet, to the amazement of assassins, the poison did not seem to take any effect on the holy man, therefore it was decided to free Rasputin soul out of his body with more conventional means. Yusupov had to fire five shots into Rasputin to kill him.
His body was thrown in Neva River. After it was retrieved in few years, Rasputins lungs were found to be filled with water, which shows that was still being alive, after he was thrown into the water. His murderers were able to get away with this crime, as Czar didnt want to inflict courts displeasure upon itself, if he defended Rasputin. Many educated Russians rejoiced the news of his death. They considered his assassination as freeing Russia from the hold of immoral man. Yet, the same people supported war until the victory and they didnt find anything wrong with sacrificing the lives of millions of people for the sake of illusory ideal of national pride.

The role of Rasputin in Russian history needs to be analyzed from both, demographic historical and perspectives. One of the reasons for him becoming so popular among Russians, even up to this day, is their mental depravity. In the same way, racial and spiritual degradation among citizens of Roman Empire, before its downfall, caused them to accept the notion of Christianity. Rasputin was nothing but a sublimation of subconscious psychological drives, which are present in every Russian. The Orthodox Church emphasizes that only a Saint could become the worst sinner. Holiness and sin walk hand in hand.
The key to salvation is confession. Yet, in order to be able to confess, one must commit sin first. It is important to understand that, even though Christianity officially bans sin, it nevertheless encourages people to indulge in it, because it allows the existence of church, as social institution. Many people think of Rasputin as godlike figure because he managed to combine an opposite psychological traits, within himself. I personally would evaluate Rasputins influence on Russian history, as being rather positive than negative. That was him who suggested that Russian Duma needed to elect ministers, rather than having appointed them by Czar.
He also tried to prevent Russia from entering war and it looks like that he was going to succeed with it, if it wasnt up to his death. It appears to be highly likely that his assassination came as a result of conspiracy, on the part of Russian warmongers. Gregory was very humane person; he tried to use his influence, convincing Czar to give Jews the equal social rights with the rest of citizens. He used to ridicule contemporary Russian elite, which didnt have anything in common with ordinary Russians. His primeval sexual energy made him very popular among many women and this is why more and more men were growing increasingly jealous of him, as time went by. Basically, he was a healthy barbarian that wanted to instill people with the notion of common sense. The figure of Gregory Rasputin is very tragic, just as the history of Russia in twentieth century Arturo Beeche said in his article The Evil Monk: His death came too late to change the course of events.
The Essay on Russian History
Russia has always played a major roll in global politics, economics and thought. However, in the past two centuries, Russia has had probably the greatest influence on the international world in modern times, surpassed only by the United States. The Russia that we’ve known this century though, has its roots in last centuries Russian. At the end of the nineteenth century, Russia experienced great ...
His dreadful name had become too thoroughly a symbol of disaster. The daring of those who killed him to save their country was miscalculated (Beeche).
