From the set of results I have discovered that the rate of transpiration is faster in windy conditions compared to humid conditions. In windy conditions the time taken for the bubble to move 100 mm was only 4 minutes when in humid conditions it took 13 minutes. In the control conditions it took 6 minutes. Transpiration is the loss of water vapour by diffusion through the stomata in the leaves.
Several weather conditions affect the rate of transpiration including temperature, humidity, air movement and light intensity. The xylem plays a role in the transpiration as the xylem carries water from the roots to all parts of the plant; transpiration draws the water up the xylem. The reason that it took longer in humid conditions is because the surrounding air had a high relative humidity. This means the air has a lot of water molecules in it which makes the water molecules from inside the leaf move more slowly out of the leaf slowing down the whole rate of transpiration. In the windy conditions the air blows away the water molecules away from the leaf creating a low relative humidity. This means that the area around the leaf has only a few water molecules in it which allows the water molecules from inside the leaf pass out quick.
The higher the relative humidity the slower the rate of transpiration. The lower the relative humidity the faster the rate of transpiration. This theory is shown in my graph because the line that represents the windy conditions has the steepest line, then the line that represents normal conditions is second steepest and the line that represents humid conditions is the least steep. The average increase of the movement of the bubble per minute for the windy conditions experiment was 25. 75 mm, for the normal conditions it was 17 mm and the average for the humid conditions is 7. 6 mm..
The Essay on In Your Opinion Are Water Resources Over Or Undervalued In The United States
In your opinion are water resources over or undervalued in the United States? Water is the most important life element to humans after oxygen. Without water human can live only up to 3 days after which they would die. Today water represents a great and profitable industry for the fact that the producers of the main US soft drinks need water, as well as the ordinary citizen who use water for their ...
