The final sense that I understood from the novel is that even if someone doesn’t seem like they are capable to complete something or act a certain way there is always hope or room for someone to grow. I say that this is a big part of the final part of the book is because Bilbo changes so much and grows so much as a hobbit then you would have expected him to. Another big thing that I took from the book is that if you were working together and not scared to ask for help from anyone you meet you will be able to reach the goal you were working towards or whatever you are trying to get to.
If you are not afraid to ask for help the more likely you will complete whatever you are trying to. As it goes for emotional or moral wisdom the book has plenty of that to offer. I say this because emotionally this books proves to you that even when you least expect it you can change as a person. I say this is an emotional wisdom because sometimes when you don’t think someone will change or grow as a person to learn to accept things when you don’t think that they will.
Another reason that I believe this book holds emotional wisdom is because it proves that if you believe you are able to complete a goal even if it is with the help of others, it can still be completed. When you were talking about moral wisdom this book proved to me that you may have morals but they can change as you grow up or change. I say this because Bilbo’s morals were really to only talk to other hobbits and not elves or dwarves and he begins talking to them and starts to like their company more than any hobbit.
The Term Paper on To what extent it is appropriate for law to enforce moral standards?
Essay Question: To what extent it is appropriate for law to enforce moral standards? Law and morality are related concepts but are arguably distinct. The natural language definition of morality is “principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behaviour”1, whereas law, which can escape definition, is commonly understood to be “the system of rules which a particular ...
A personal connection that I could make to this novel is that when I thought I couldn’t grow as a person or change anymore then I already had, I figured out that I could just like Bilbo. An example of this is the fact that when it came to the choices that I began to make I thought that they couldn’t change because that is what I believed and they wouldn’t ever change but then I grew much more as a person and began surrounding myself with different people and make different decisions is when I realized that there is always room for a person to change and grow.
I believe there is always room for a person to grow because you make decisions good or bad and you almost always take a learning lesson out of it. I think this compares to Bilbo Baggins because he grew so much throughout the book and learned so much about himself when he surrounded himself with different people who weren’t just hobbits and they made him learn things on his own because he wasn’t sheltered by his hobbit hole.
A wish for one character in the novel would have to be that I wish for Bilbo to go spend the rest of his life and time with people who make him happy and that he doesn’t shelter himself in the hobbit hole like he did before. I know in the book you learn that “there is more to the little hobbit than meets the eye. ” Another thing that I wish upon Bilbo is that he continues to grow as a person and continue on being the person who he was becoming throughout the journey to get the long lost treasure from under Smaug the dragon. Journal Response- Activity 5 But somehow, just when the dwarves were most despairing, Bilbo felt a strange lightening of the heart, as if a heavy weight had gone under his waist belt. “Come, come! ” he said. “While there is life there is still hope! ” as my father use to say. ” This quote shows significance to the entire book because throughout the book Bilbo has been growing as a person and now he is showing leadership and heroism. This is Bilbo showing heroism because he is finally deciding that he wants to help the dwarves get out of where they are.
The Essay on Successful Completion of Developmental Tasks Enables a Person to Make a Smooth Transition to Adulthood
It is believed that, “successful completion of developmental tasks enables a person to make a smooth transition to adulthood.” In order to become a matured, well being adult, one must complete the three main factors of the Family Life Cycle theory. Therefore, throughout this overview, the three developmental tasks outlined in the Family Life Cycle Theory prove this fact. The Family Life Cycle is ...
That is good for Bilbo because in the beginning of the adventure he was quiet and had no idea with what to do about anything. “In all their talk they came perpetually back to one thing: where was Smaug? They looked West and there was nothing, and East there was nothing, and in the South there was no sign of the dragon,” I believe this was significant to the book in general because they were so interested in finding the dragon which no doubt is where they needed to end up to get the treasure but if the dragon was nowhere to be found you would think that they would know they are in the wrong place looking for the ragon. Although they figured that out and knew that I still believe it is significant because that was a big tip that the dragon had to be where they thought it was and it couldn’t be anywhere else. “There was once more a tremendous excitement and enthusiasm. But the grim-voiced fellow ran hotfoot to the Master. “The dragon is coming or I am a fool! ” he cried. “Cut the bridges! To arms! To arms! ”” This is a very important part to the novel because this is right before the dragon came to attack the town.
They do not think that it would be the dragon in the beginning because they do not believe that they did anything wrong and as far as they know, they didn’t. When the dragon is going to attack the city is plays an important part in the entire novel because if the dragon didn’t go to the city and destroy it they wouldn’t have any need and demand treasure and jewels from the dwarves and Bilbo. ““The moon is rising. Look for the hollow of the left breast as he flies and turns above you! ” And while Bard paused in wonder it told him of tidings up in the Mountain and of all that it had heard”
This is important because this thing is the reason that the dragon got slayed. I say that because if it hadn’t over heard about how Bilbo discovered that the dragon was weak by its heart. When Bard heard of this news he was able to hit the dragon right where it hurts in order for everything to try and repair itself to go back to normal ““Something strange is happening,” said Thorin. “The time has gone for the autumn wanderings; and starlings and flocks of finches; and far off there are many carrion birds that dwell as if a battle were afoot! ” The reason that I chose this quote is because it foreshadows about how there is going to be a battle or that a battle could occur in the novel. Although the battle does end of being settled and people end up teaming up there still manages to be an altercation even if it does end up getting solved without violence. That is why I think that quote shows great significance to the novel. “Surely you don’t disbelieve the prophecies, because you had a hand in bringing them that all your adventures and escapes were managed by mere luck, just for your sole bene-fit? You are a very fine person, Mr.
The Essay on The Hobbit Dragon Bilbo Friends
The Hobbit The Hobbit By J. R. R. Tolkien. Don't judge a book by its cover. This famous phrase can very well be applied to the hobbit a small human like creature that goes along with 13 dwarves and a wizard. The wizard, Gandalf, has total faith in the little hobbit knowing full well that when the time comes he will serve the dwarves quite well. He does this with the help of a ring that makes him ...
Baggins, and I am very fond of you; but you are only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all! ” This quote proves to me that it is significant because it tells you that Gandalf is proud of Bilbo and what not but it also tells him that as big of a part in the world that he plays he will always be just a little fellow and he can only do so much. Its significant because it ends the novel on the note saying that although Bilbo is a large part and has grown a lot a part of him will always just be a little hobbit who cannot do as much as he likes to believe.
