RELATE STOPPING BY WOODS ON A SNOWY EVENING TO YOUR OWN LIFE. DO YOU EVER FIND COMFORT IN NATURE? IS THERE A PLACE THAT YOU SEEK OUT TO “COLLECT YOURSELF”?
Nature, I believe is a great healer- A breath of fresh air can calm the even the hardest feelings and a single snowy evening, sunset or redwood forest can take ones breath away. Often in life you find yourself surrounded by screeching cars and soaring buildings along with people speaking in different languages and blaring music, ringing through your ears and it becomes overwhelming- At least, it does for me. I cannot imagine living my life in a world full of screaming car horns and a million people on a block of pavement, and this is why I need to be within the confines of pure natural environment. Nature is reminder, to me, of what there is in life- the beauty of a running stream, or just a simple walk in the woods is invigorating because it isn’t just a simple walk in the woods; it is birds singing, and leaves rustling and wind rushing through your hair and cleansing you of negative energy. I feel like nature is a reminder of what there is in the world and that it isn’t all work and brick walls- there is beauty to it, there are places where the only sound you hear is the tapping of fingers on a keyboard, where there isn’t the constant chirping of cell phones.
My favorite place to be is Maine, because of its uncontaminated natural world- mountains and forests and rivers lay untainted by the likes of man. I love to go on hikes to view waterfalls and mountain runoffs because they remind me of what more there is in life and give me time to take a step back and reevaluate my priorities. I love to white water raft and kayak because it reminds me that nature is powerful and is the ultimate force in the world and in the end, it is nature to which we all answer to, not the other way around. I believe that everyone should visit a natural place to learn again, to be reminded that nature is the ultimate force, the ultimate healer. Without nature, there would not be the human race. Nature is the ultimate creator and provider.
