“Should A Woman Worked Outside The Home ?”

Mohammed Akade Osman in his essay, “Should A Woman Worked Outside The Home ?”, exposed the reason why women should stay at their homes. He explained that Allah has said in the Al Qur’an that women should stay at home, while some of His creation think that allowing woman to work outside the home gives her equal rights with men. He said that we couldn’t applying this human-rule correctly because Allah has created men and women differently, both in their physical stature and emotional capabilities. The rate of unemployment, crime, and divorce have rose because of this. Not only that, the moral of our nation will be lowered or perhaps, totally gone because their mothers were so busy that couldn’t teach and take care of their children anymore. I see this problem the same way like the author had done in his essay. I’m absolutely agree with all his statement which give us reasons why woman shouldn’t work outside the home.
At the early paragraph, the author pointed out the religious view of this problem. The Koran and The Bible ̶̶ religious view ̶̶ also states “ that the women would should stay at home and do the house work ”. I like his decision to make religious point of view as fundamental reason and answer. The right answer is always come from The One who knows everything that’s good for His servant. Human are so weak and know nothing, unless they hold into Al Qur’an and As Sunnah. Allah tabaarak wa ta’ala says in Surah Al Ahzab : 33 ,”And settle in your homes; and do not display yourselves, as in the former days of ignorance. And perform the prayer, and give regular charity, and obey God and His Messenger. God desires to remove all impurity from you, O People of the Household (ahlul bayt), and to purify you thoroughly”. Feminist may think this as a limit for women, whereas Allah’s decision is a form of a mercy towards His slaves . Actually, this is the best blessing to a woman.

Mr. Osman continued with providing facts that show men and women had created differently. Yes, that’s right. I’ve read and heard lots of oral and written sources that revealed so many differences between men and women. Those facts are (1) Women has a wider view than men, (2) Women tend touch each other 4-6 times more than men, (3) Men have skin 1.5 thicker than women, and many others. Men and women are different, but they’re complete each other.
Lots of trouble caused by women who busy with their activities outside their home. As the author has been mentioned in his essay, the increase of unemployment, crime, and divorce rate are caused because the large number of career woman. The most serious problem is the growing of unintelligent and unprincipled generation because they miss the presence of a mother as their teacher in the childhood. I often see the difference behavior between friends whose mother work outside home and whose not. Usually, those whose parent work outside home do not know anything about their religion but only a little. As a woman who is taking undergraduate-level education, I don’t want to be a career woman. Knowledge and experience I gained while studying are dedicated for nurturing my children with character, in shaa Allah. The choice to flourish tawheed in the chests of muslim generation can not be compared with million dollars salary from bona fide company. Many women today forgot that their children are investment for the world and hereafter. In our old age, who will take care of us than our children ? Are they willing to if we never educate them ? When our body has buried by soil, are they remember to send a prayer for us ?

I agree that allowing woman to work freely outside the home is something wrong. It doesn’t mean that we are forbidding women to work at all. Women may work outside the home as a teacher for female students , doctors for female patients , and any other jobs which go well with shari’ah. From many point of views, women can not be equaled with men. Allah has told us in The Al Qur’an in surah An Nisaa’, “Do not covet what God has given to some of you in preference to others. For men is a share of what they have earned, and for women is a share of what they have earned. And ask God of his bounty. God has knowledge of everything”. Once woman married and having children, she has the responsibility to educate their children. Remember, she is the one who going to raise the nation.
